SUMMARY:Peter Potworowski: West Country Exile
DESCRIPTION:Born in Poland in 1898\, Peter Potworowski was part of the Parisian Artistic community of the 1920s that included the likes of Picasso\, Bonnard\, and Léger. After the Nazi-occupation of his home-land Potworowski settled in England in 1943\, beginning a long association with the West Country. \nThe majority of works in this selling exhibition are from his time living in Cornwall\, Devon\, Somerset and Wiltshire. In 1949 he joined the teaching staff at the Bath Academy of Art\, Corsham\, where his own work as an artist matured in contact with the English landscape. \nChippenham Museum\, a Chippenham Town Council facility\, is free entry\, open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm\, including bank holidays.

Born in Zambia and now based in the South West of England\, his work celebrates language and the power of story. \nAuthor of his debut poetry Pamphlet\, “Katabasis”\, published by Frosted Fire Press\, his work has been featured on BBC Arts and BBC Radio Bristol. \nFrom commissions to collaboration\, he looks for opportunities to explore and express the nuances of moving through the world. \n“Saili’s work is profoundly personal\, skilful and abundant with narrative and raw feeling. His creative energy is laced with hope and a sense of possibility.
