SUMMARY:Lights Up\, Sounds Down - Quiet Opening
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a more relaxed visit at the REME Museum during this special opening outside of our regular hours. \nWe have designed these ‘Lights Up\, Sounds Down’ days to reduce sensory input for individuals who would prefer a quieter experience. These sessions are primarily for\, though not limited to\, anyone who has sensory processing disorder; autism; social\, emotional or mental health needs; dementia\, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or any other sensory needs. \nDuring these days we will have: \nLights On – our overhead gallery lighting will be turned on\, without spotlights\, to create a brighter environment in which to explore.\nSounds Down – we will reduce sound effects throughout the museum as much as possible by turning off most ‘surround sound’ interactives and reducing volumes.\nSensory maps – we have marked out any areas around the museum where you may find louder interactives or visual effects that we cannot turn off. This means you can choose your own route and avoid any areas as you wish. \nIf you would like to bring any sensory items (including but not limited to ear defenders\, magnifying glass\, book\, squeezy toy) that will help you or your loved one to enjoy their experience better\, please feel free to do so\, just make sure you hold onto it and take it home with you! \nFurther Information \n\nPre-booking is essential for these visits\, please use our online booking system.\nUsual entry fees apply. Included in your annual pass.\nAny visitors who wish to join us for the full museum experience\, including normal sound effects and visuals\, should avoid visiting during these special openings. We advise you to book a general admission visit.\nPlease note Crown’s Café will be closed. The gift shop will remain open to ticket holders only. DESCRIPTION:Come along and work with: Rebecca Osborne Actor and Stage Combat instructor. \nStep Into the shoes of your heroes as you learn to punch\, kick and grapple for the stage! If you want to move a bit quicker\, or have tried stage combat before\, this session would suit you. \nGroup 2 – (14-18 or improvers)11.30 – 1pm\nPizza 1 – 1.30pm\nGroup 1 (11-13’s/beginners) 1.30 pm – 3pm\nYouth Cafe 3-4.30pm (Feel free to perform if you wish) \nThe founder of Brazen Steel\, and a core member of the teaching team at Rebel Action\, Rebecca has spent time instructing at the Royal Shakespeare Company\, LAMDA and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Rebecca is nearing the end of her stage combat instructor apprenticeship with the Academy of Performance Combat\, and has helped to guide a plethora of students from their first taste of combat to daring fight scenes and everything in between. Her teaching style is patient\, empathetic\, and encouraging; she is committed to helping each student as an individual to grow and achieve.

Under Rob’s expert tuition you will learn how a drummer keeps a band together as well as how to create amazing\, textural percussion music. \nRobert Brian is based in the Bath/Bristol area and is a busy session/touring drummer. He also performs drum clinics/masterclass’ around the country for DW drums and Vulcan cymbals. \nRob has recorded/toured with Loreena McKennitt\, Clara Ponty\, Michel Polnareff\, Goldfrapp\, Miles Kane\, Laura Pausini\, Siouxsie Sioux\, Simple Minds\, Hugh Cornwell\, Modern English\, Innes Sibun\, Andy Partridge\, Black Box\, Jason Rebello\, Colin Moulding\, Coati Mundi and Charlie Jones.\nIn 2013 Rob became a Drum Workshop endorser and played 2 sold out shows at the Royal Festival Hall with Siouxsie as part of Yoko Ono’s Meltdown Festival.

DESCRIPTION:‘The most fun I have all week – I haven’t laughed so much in ages’ \nAlternate Monday’s at the Cause Arts Centre 7-9pm \nImprovisation Workshops delivered by Laura. \nIf you’re interested but not sure what it is – just come and watch a session and have a cup of tea! \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. Some of our short form games are like ‘Who’s line is it anyway’ if you’re old enough to remember that! \nIf you have always wanted to try some drama\, but are not sure that you want to commit\, just pop in and do the bits that you want to\, or just come and watch a session. We’d love you to join us – and can guarantee that you’ll meet some brilliant and supportive people along the way. \n\nBasic introduction\, get to know each other\, ground rules for improv and how to let your brain avoid filtering (too much)\nIntroduction to creating characters to use in scenes – emphasis on the physical. Levels of performance style – 1-10\nFurther character development – using the voice to compliment the physical. Tone\, pitch\, accent. Introducing costume for characters.\nHow to respond to offers and add value to a scene. Can we develop a plot using the people that we have found?\nWhat do we need to do to become more believable? What clues can other actors give each other when in an improvised scene?\nFeedback – audience to watch. Teens invited to join us.\n\n£65 for 5 week blocks \nBlock 1 – Monday January 6th and 20th\, Feb 3rd\, March 3rd and 17th \nBlock 2 – Monday April 7th\, May 19th\, June 2nd and 16th July 7th. \n(Thursday evening Improv Slams also running at the Old Road Tavern 7.30 – 9pm £10 – drop in on second Thursday of the month if you can’t commit to blocks and want to do short form only.
