DESCRIPTION:A meeting of History Portal Club\, with Lucy Whitfield\, Historian \nTogether we’ll look at commonly-held rumours about incidents in Chippenham’s past that pepper local history discussion\, and whether there’s any truth in them – so we’re talking aliens\, murders\, escaped wild animals\, arson plots\, palaces\, accidents and so on. \nThis interactive club session will explore the stories that run through the community\, from Victorian supposition to mis-remembered details\, weighing up the evidence and seeking the truth – if it’s out there. \nHistory Portal Club is a friendly regular meet-up for curious locals who love stories from the past\, hidden landmarks\, and great company. It’s a great way to explore the local area’s past together – no lectures\, no stuffy rooms\, just walking\, talking\, pub chats\, and stories you won’t find in the guidebooks.

DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.

DESCRIPTION:Love to sing? \nThe Village Singers are a community choir with members of all ages coming from the villages and towns around Chippenham. We have no auditions and we always welcome new members. We have been making music together since 2011. \nWe are united by our love of music and our love of fun but also through many shared emotional experiences.
