DESCRIPTION:‘A really friendly place to learn from experienced people’ \nUniquely designed and delivered 6 x 6 week courses for beginners. Taught by local artist and designer Charlie who has over 25 years experience teaching art. \nTuesdays at 12.30 – 2.30pm \nTerm 1 – Still life (drawing) – Sept 17th – October 22nd \nTerm 2 – Objects in interiors (drawing\, painting)- November 5th – December 10th \nTerm 3 – Portrait (painting)- January 7th – Feb 11th \nTerm 4 – Interiors (drawing)- Feb 26th – April 2nd \nTerm 5 – Landscape (painting) – April 23rd – June 4th \nTerm 6 – Still life revisited (collage\, mixed media) – June 11th – July 16th \nIn both beginners and improvers\, the sessions we will follow the classic method for learning to draw and paint. It is easy to learn to draw by copying the example of a tutor leading the group\, but this tends to produce a ‘house style’ where everyone ends up drawing in the same way. DESCRIPTION:For the fourth year running\, come and experience the banks of the River Avon spectacularly lit up\, bringing some wonderful Christmas cheer into the heart of Chippenham. Situated within it’s usual spot of The Island in Monkton Park\, the event will once more feature a full roster of live\, festive entertainment. \nThe trail will be open Thursday 28th November – Sunday 1st December (inclusive). \nWith family friendly activities\, workshops and performances throughout the afternoon\, leading on to more adult based evening entertainment. Showcasing live Music and Comedy from some excellent musicians and comedians\, to Film Screenings\, Festive Workshops\, Artisan Market stall traders and even a live Brass Band playing Christmas Carols by Candlelight! \nThe event is funded by Chippenham Town Council in collaboration with Melt Productions and is a completely free experience for the local community and surrounding areas to enjoy. \nAll seating will be allocated on a first come\, first serve basis\, so please ensure you arrive nice and early if you are keen to watch any of the live shows and entertainment. \nThis years’ focal point will once again be the beautiful wooden Roundhouse\, a cosy\, heated wooden structure serving up delicious hot and cold drinks and tasty food from local vendors. DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

DESCRIPTION:‘A really friendly place to learn from experienced people’ \nUniquely designed and delivered 6 x 6 week courses for beginners. Taught by local artist and designer Charlie who has over 25 years experience teaching art. \nTuesdays at 12.30 – 2.30pm \nTerm 1 – Still life (drawing) – Sept 17th – October 22nd \nTerm 2 – Objects in interiors (drawing\, painting)- November 5th – December 10th \nTerm 3 – Portrait (painting)- January 7th – Feb 11th \nTerm 4 – Interiors (drawing)- Feb 26th – April 2nd \nTerm 5 – Landscape (painting) – April 23rd – June 4th \nTerm 6 – Still life revisited (collage\, mixed media) – June 11th – July 16th \nIn both beginners and improvers\, the sessions we will follow the classic method for learning to draw and paint. It is easy to learn to draw by copying the example of a tutor leading the group\, but this tends to produce a ‘house style’ where everyone ends up drawing in the same way. Your drawing style is as unique to you as your handwriting (if school hasn’t obliterated it) – here you will learn to enhance your own drawing style\, not replace it with ours. \nPlease note: all courses begin with drawing\, and include a talk about relevant art movements and practitioners. \nPrice includes all materials and coffee and biscuits (donations taken to help with refreshments) \nThank you – we look forward to meeting you soon
