SUMMARY:Mental health training for non-paid carers of loved ones with mental health challenges (Online)
DESCRIPTION:This training aims to help non-paid carers supporting a loved one with lived experience of mental health problems. \nBeing a non-paid carer can take many forms\, you might be a friend\, family member\, neighbour\, partner\, peer\, or colleague. You might provide practical\, emotional support\, or both. In fact\, anyone could be a carer – a student supporting a housemate with early signs of an eating disorder\, a family member supporting their brother-in law with depression\, or a husband supporting his wife with complex PTSD. \nThe training is delivered over 4 sessions (online\, via Zoom). Topics covered include: understanding mental health challenges\, supporting people with mental health needs to make changes\, conflict and crisis\, as well as learning\, reflecting and supporting. \nTraining funded by BANES\, Swindon & Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BSW CCG). \n“Caring for someone with mental health problems can often be challenging. Those that attend the training leave with a range of skills and approaches to aid their caring role\, as well as a range of stress management techniques and self-care ideas”\, Carolyn Trippick\, St Mungo’s Volunteer. \nFeedback from past participants: \n“If you are a carer\, this course is vital to understanding how looking after you helps look after the person you are caring for”. \n“The content was really informative. People were interactive with each other. Trainer was knowledgeable and friendly”. \n“Everyone was given time to have a voice “share” their stories if they wanted to\, as much or as little as they wanted. No pressure. Looking at self was really useful tool to be a better carer and look after myself better….”. \n“Really helpful – covering quite a range of topics. Meeting other carers invaluable\, too. Really well organised\, wish I’d known about it ages ago! \nBooking via Eventbrite \nParticipants should be available to attend all 4 sessions\, in order to complete the course – Monday 16th\, 23rd\, 30th Jan & Mon 6th Feb 2023\, 6:00-8:30pm via Zoom. SUMMARY:Rooted Chippenham Community Gardening
DESCRIPTION:We would love to see some new faces as we get going for 2023. We have a real variety of tasks this year\, from building pathways and water collection\, to sowing seeds and tending the veg. The garden is for the whole community – so the more input from our community the better! \nWe are using organic no dig beds – a method that has so many benefits for plants\, and the eaters of plants\, alike! We are getting more raised beds in place this year which will open up the garden to more people. We are also planning to get a poly tunnel on site – which will expand the range of veg we can grow. There is so much we are looking forward to – we hope you can come and share it all with us! \nYou can join our group Rooted Chippenham Community Garden to keep up-to-date with what’s going on and connect with our growing gang!
