DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Art Group meets monthly on Wednesdays in St Paul’s Church Hall\, Greenway Lane\, Chippenham. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nProjects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection. No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas. \nFamily carers are welcome at the group as full members and encouraged to join in to create their own pieces of art. \nIf you’d like to come along as a group member\, or for more information\, please call Pam on 01380 739055\, or to register your interest please use the form below. \nThis group is kindly part-funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity. DESCRIPTION:We’re bringing Drink & Draw back — this time as a quarterly night out with a particular art medium focus. \nThink less “workshop” and more good vibes\, good people\, and something fun to get stuck into. Each session centres around a different medium\, the first being watercolour painting\, using a ScrawlrBox (included with your ticket — yours to keep)\, so you can try something new without overthinking it. \nGrab a drink\, take a seat\, open your kit and just see where it goes. Follow the guide\, ignore it completely\, paint\, experiment\, chat — it’s totally up to you. \nWe’ll throw in a few loose prompts to get things going\, but there’s no structure you have to follow and definitely no pressure to be “good”. \nWhat makes this one different:\n– A themed watercolour night\n– Your own ScrawlrBox to use and take home (£25 value)\n– Smaller group (just 15 spots) for a better atmosphere\n– Still relaxed\, still social — just with a bit more direction \nIt’s a chance to try something new\, have a laugh\, and spend a couple of hours making something with other creative people. \nNo rules. SUMMARY:Collection Conversations - Natasha Michaels & Carole Pearson
DESCRIPTION:In June’s installment\, we will be joined by Natasha Michaels and Carole Pearson. \nNatasha Michaels studied communication design at Saint Martin’s School of Art and at the Royal College of Art where she specialised in printmaking. Her work explores conventions in classical subjects from art history. Celebrating\, and at the same time\, subverting these images\, Michaels reimagines the sitters as fictional\, cartoon-like characters. Through the lens of celebrity and social media she explores historic and contemporary notions of power\, identity\, status and artifice. \nCarole Pearson worked with museum collections before studying at Bath Spa University\, first for a BA in ceramics\, followed by an MA in fine art. Pearson works mostly on paper but also makes three-dimensional objects. Her selection of materials is low-tech\, utilising found and everyday objects. Her thinking reflects her childhood growing up on North Yorkshire farms and her strong connection with the land.
