SUMMARY:Art Bytes Pupil Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition features all the artworks of Year 5 and Year 9 pupils entered as part of Art Bytes. This exhibition would not have been possible without the support of\, and volunteers from\, The Arts Society Wessex\, The Arts Society Kington Langley and The Chippenham Museum. \nArt Bytes is a national art and EdTech programme for Year 5 and Year 9 students in all educational settings\, combining an inter-school art competition with a bespoke virtual gallery and in-person Celebration Events in cultural venues across England. \nArt Bytes is based on 12 years’ experience in the North West and is proven to nurture talent\, raise ambition and develop confidence and cultural capital\, as well as support mental health and help develop vital skills for future employment.

DESCRIPTION:‘The most fun I have all week – I haven’t laughed so much in ages’ \nAlternate Monday’s at the Cause Arts Centre 7-9pm \nImprovisation Workshops delivered by Laura. \nIf you’re interested but not sure what it is – just come and watch a session and have a cup of tea! \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. Some of our short form games are like ‘Who’s line is it anyway’ if you’re old enough to remember that! \nIf you have always wanted to try some drama\, but are not sure that you want to commit\, just pop in and do the bits that you want to\, or just come and watch a session. We’d love you to join us – and can guarantee that you’ll meet some brilliant and supportive people along the way. \n\nBasic introduction\, get to know each other\, ground rules for improv and how to let your brain avoid filtering (too much)\nIntroduction to creating characters to use in scenes – emphasis on the physical. Levels of performance style – 1-10\nFurther character development – using the voice to compliment the physical. Tone\, pitch\, accent. Introducing costume for characters.\nHow to respond to offers and add value to a scene. Can we develop a plot using the people that we have found?\nWhat do we need to do to become more believable? What clues can other actors give each other when in an improvised scene?\nFeedback – audience to watch. DESCRIPTION:‘A really friendly place to learn from experienced people’ \nUniquely designed and delivered 6 x 6 week courses for beginners. Taught by local artist and designer Charlie who has over 25 years experience teaching art. \nTuesdays at 12.30 – 2.30pm \nTerm 1 – Still life (drawing) – Sept 17th – October 22nd \nTerm 2 – Objects in interiors (drawing\, painting)- November 5th – December 10th \nTerm 3 – Portrait (painting)- January 7th – Feb 11th \nTerm 4 – Interiors (drawing)- Feb 26th – April 2nd \nTerm 5 – Landscape (painting) – April 23rd – June 4th \nTerm 6 – Still life revisited (collage\, mixed media) – June 11th – July 16th \nIn both beginners and improvers\, the sessions we will follow the classic method for learning to draw and paint. It is easy to learn to draw by copying the example of a tutor leading the group\, but this tends to produce a ‘house style’ where everyone ends up drawing in the same way. DESCRIPTION:Unleash your child’s creativity with this exciting Kids Drawing and Painting Class! Join me every other Thursday evening from 6 to 7 PM during the school term. In each class\, the kids choose the subject for the session\, and together we’ll draw and paint\, allowing each child to create their own unique piece of art. \nWhat to Expect: \nGuided Creativity: I will demonstrate how to draw and paint the chosen subject\, guiding the kids step-by-step. DESCRIPTION:In June’s Collection Conversation\, we will be joined by Nigel Goldsmith and Chloe Yandell. \nNigel Goldsmith studied his Masters in fine art at Bath Spa University. Goldsmith’s videos employ some of the visual and aural strategies used in advertising in an attempt to mesmerise the viewer\, presenting a subject that is overwhelming in scale yet engaging to watch. \nChloe Yandell also studied at Bath Spa University. She works out of her studio in Corsham\, taking inspiration from her local environment\, memories and materials.
