DESCRIPTION:The Royal Marines Charity are on a mission to raise £1.5 million by the end of 2023 to support Royal Marines and their families through life. \nTo help them achieve this local artist\, Rae Melody\, is running a ‘Cakes for Commandos’ fundraiser. Love Stories\, by Mark Rutterford\, promises a Valentine’s Day event like no other and one you’ll never forget. As the audience eats Love Heart sweets\, they will hear tales of love affairs and heartache but like any romantic encounter\, Love Stories is not a passive experience. \nAudience engagement is a big part of the show. It’s the audience that decides who wins the World Cup of Love Songs\, what happens in one story and\, having heard Mark’s best and worst romantic moments\, they’ll be invited to share their own triumphs and disasters. Laughs and empathy are guaranteed. \nThis interactive theatre piece is that latest offering from Kandu Arts\, a Chippenham based company that has been using the arts and activities to explore a wide range of issues and nurture strong relationships within the community for 25 years. \nAn alien reports that he just ‘doesn’t get it\,’ but the 4-Star Review from last year’s Bath Fringe Festival says that you will feel the connection and that you might be beguiled into leaving your cynic at the door. \n“the connection…is what makes the night – during our short time together we become friends hanging out” \nBackground \nMark Rutterford is a writer-performer that has been performing stories across the South West for a decade. Love Stories is Mark’s first solo show – it made its debut at Bath Fringe Festival in May 2023 (4-Stars) and went on to Shaftesbury Fringe in July and Camden Fringe in August last year. The mix of performance\, props\, emotions and audience engagement are key features in the inclusive\, funny and entertaining show Mark wanted to create. He is delighted to be working with Kandu Arts and to be performing in Chippenham for the first time – he hopes to do more of both in future. \nKandu Arts for sustainable development is based in Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, and has worked since 1998 with communities\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach up and down the country. They use music\, film\, visual arts & sport as a means to explore a wide range of issues. Combined with nurturing strong relationships\, this approach is highly effective in areas of engaging the disaffected\, increasing community cohesion and development.

He is known as the David Beckham of Flower Arranging\, admired and respected for his floral art. He supervises the arrangements at Salisbury Cathedral and was in charge of two pedestal at Westminster Abbey for the funeral of our late Queen. \nMichael is joining us on 13th May at Sheldon School Hall. This promises to be an enjoyable evening\, apart from Michael’s demonstration we have our popular Plant Stall\, Bring and Buy stall and our Sales Stall\, as well as refreshments. As always there is a raffle where for £1.00 a strip of tickets you could win one of Michael’s displays. \nMembers are free\nVisitors – £6.00\nAccompanied children are welcome.\nDoors open at 6.45pm

SUMMARY:Cherished Vehicle & Family Fun Day
DESCRIPTION:This is the twelfth year we have held this event and it grows in size and popularity every year. We will have a large variety of attractions for all the family to enjoy and we expect to have in excess of 250 cherished cars attending as well as a performance Arena\, Fairground\, Local Foods\, Craft\, Charity and Trade Stands. \nOur main charity this year is Dorothy House Hospialong with other Lions Charities – local\, national and international – but mostly local. \nThe site is in the Chippenham countryside with the Avon close by\, a couple of miles north of Chippenham and about three miles south of the M4 J17. DESCRIPTION:A day for carers of those with life-limiting and palliative conditions\, to come in and see what support is available to you. This may be around health and well-being support\, financial support (CAB advisors) or even support after the death of someone who you cared for. \nWe have our Day Patient Services running sessions for those you care for\, so you can bring them along too\, and allow our staff to take care of them whilst you visit for the session to get information\, or maybe just peace of mind. \nPlease contact Dorothy House to book a space in DPS if you are intended to bring those you care for\, as spaces are limited. \nSessions run from 10:30am-1pm and 2pm-4:30pm please see flyer for more information and book by calling

SUMMARY:A Walk to Remember
DESCRIPTION:Seven-mile charity walk for Alzheimer’s Support and a great day out for the whole family! \nPull on your walking boots and take part in A Walk to Remember on Saturday 8th June. \nIt’s a circular seven-miles through some of North Wiltshire’s loveliest countryside starting and finishing at Bowood Estate at the kind permission of the charity’s patron Lady Lansdowne. \nThe day starts with bacon or veggie butties then\, after a fun group warm-up\, we head out into the beautiful north Wiltshire countryside. Everyone walks at their own pace. You can walk with others\, stride ahead or do your own thing. There are plenty of great views and scenic places to stop for a picnic along the way. And marshals will be on hand to make sure you find your way. \nBack at the estate\, our post-walk celebrations include medals for all the finishers\, commemorative photos\, plenty of tea and cake and chance to relax with other walkers. \nPlease sign up and join us in June – you’ll have a great day out and be walking for dementia with every step.
