DESCRIPTION:A Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget 🎭❤️ \nKandu Arts is bringing a show to Chippenham that promises a whirlwind romance of stories\, chat and laughs about love. Love Stories\, by Mark Rutterford\, promises a Valentine’s Day event like no other and one you’ll never forget. As the audience eats Love Heart sweets\, they will hear tales of love affairs and heartache but like any romantic encounter\, Love Stories is not a passive experience. \nAudience engagement is a big part of the show. It’s the audience that decides who wins the World Cup of Love Songs\, what happens in one story and\, having heard Mark’s best and worst romantic moments\, they’ll be invited to share their own triumphs and disasters. Laughs and empathy are guaranteed. \nThis interactive theatre piece is that latest offering from Kandu Arts\, a Chippenham based company that has been using the arts and activities to explore a wide range of issues and nurture strong relationships within the community for 25 years. \nAn alien reports that he just ‘doesn’t get it\,’ but the 4-Star Review from last year’s Bath Fringe Festival says that you will feel the connection and that you might be beguiled into leaving your cynic at the door. \n“the connection…is what makes the night – during our short time together we become friends hanging out” \nBackground \nMark Rutterford is a writer-performer that has been performing stories across the South West for a decade. Love Stories is Mark’s first solo show – it made its debut at Bath Fringe Festival in May 2023 (4-Stars) and went on to Shaftesbury Fringe in July and Camden Fringe in August last year. The mix of performance\, props\, emotions and audience engagement are key features in the inclusive\, funny and entertaining show Mark wanted to create. He is delighted to be working with Kandu Arts and to be performing in Chippenham for the first time – he hopes to do more of both in future. \nKandu Arts for sustainable development is based in Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, and has worked since 1998 with communities\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach up and down the country. They use music\, film\, visual arts & sport as a means to explore a wide range of issues. Combined with nurturing strong relationships\, this approach is highly effective in areas of engaging the disaffected\, increasing community cohesion and development.

From observational humour to downright silliness\, we have carefully curated a line up with something for everyone to enjoy! \nHosted by Chippenham Comedy Club legend Wil Hodgson\, ‘Daft Laffs’ has been produced by Melt Productions as part of Chippenham Fringe February. \nWith brilliant comedians Spencer Jones\, Priya Hall\, Abi Clarke and Sophie Duker! \nSpencer Jones has been nominated for the Edinburgh comedy award twice\, has Bafta Nominations\, Created The Mind of Herbert Clunkerdunk\, appeared in Ted Lasso\, Upstart Crow\, Mr Winner\, Big Babies. ”Spencers chaotic live act is aways visual and musical’ – The Guardian \nPriya Hall is a stand up comedian and writer. She has featured on  Comedy Central Live (Comedy Central)\, BBC  Presents:  Stand up for Live Comedy (BBC One & Three)\, Live From Aberystwyth Pier (BBC One Wales and BBC Radio Wales)\, Fred At The Stand (BBC Radio 4)\, Machynlleth Comedy Showcase (BBC Radio Wales)\, Stand Yp (S4C). She was a semi-finalist in the BBC New Comedy Awards 2021. \nShe has written on the revival of the BBC Three sitcom Bad Education\, which is available on BBC iPlayer.  \nAbi Clarke is a stand-up comedian and presenter from Bristol who took to the internet in 2020 due to lockdown and achieved remarkable success. In her first year online\, she amassed over a million followers across Instagram and TikTok\, and now boasts a large following of 367k followers on Instagram\, 893k followers on TikTok and 590k subscribers on YouTube. Abi was named as one of the eleven comedy stars of the internet by The Independent\, and has had her viral sketches shared by the likes of E! News\, Buzzfeed\, LadBible\, Good Morning Britain\, and BBC One. \nSophie Duker is a comedian and writer whose Edinburgh Fringe Show\, Venus\, saw her nominated for the Best Newcomer award and gained critical acclaim and five star reviews\, leading to a two week sold out run at Soho Theatre. \nSophie is a regular guest on Frankie Boyle’s New World Order (BBC2). She has appeared on Live at The Apollo (BBC2)\, Mock the Week (BBC2)\, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (Channel 4) and Hypothetical (Dave).
