DESCRIPTION:Alongside our sessions in Calne (Monday lunchtimes) and Royal Wootton Bassett (Tuesday evenings)\, the Sparkly Singers meet every Thursday evening from 8:00pm at the Lansdowne Hall in Derry Hill. \nFounded with the simple aim of bringing the joy and benefits of group singing to everyone\, our emphasis is on singing in a way that is\, above all else\, fun. \nRather than splitting into parts and learning harmonies\, we prefer instead to sing in unison\, infusing songs with our own rather unique mix of humour\, movement and the occasional wacky prop. \nSo if you simply love to sing\, but have yet to find the choir that perfectly complements your sense of fun\, why not come along to one of our FREE taster sessions and see what we’re all about.

DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

SUMMARY:Bat & Moth Evening at Baydons Meadow
DESCRIPTION:Join our annual quest for bats and moths in and around Baydons Meadow! \nMeet by the interpretation board and log seat near the cycle path and blue footbridge over the Avon. \nPaul Darby\, who used to work for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust\, will chat about the bats and lend out several bat detectors for the evening so that we can listen out for the clicks from their calls as we look up for them flitting through the trees just after dusk. \nMichael Sammes\, amateur-lepidopterist of our group\, will talk about and show us any moths that visit the moth-trap and white sheet that he will put out there.
