DESCRIPTION:If you will be alone this Christmas you are invited to join local people on Christmas Day for lunch. \nThe lunch will bring together people from Corsham\, Box\, Chippenham and surrounding villages who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone and provide a space to celebrate together. \nYou are also welcome if you aren’t alone but perhaps want more company for the day\, e.g. a couple where one person is the carer for the other person/person\, single-parent families who perhaps have previously been a bigger family and are now adjusting etc. \nThe event is FREE to attend and will be held at Corsham Scout Hall\, The Lagger\, Corsham\, SN13 0DE. \nGuests will be served coffee\, tea\, non-alcoholic cold drinks\, a 3-course meal and mince pies and biscuits. DESCRIPTION:This training aims to help non-paid carers supporting a loved one with lived experience of mental health problems. \nBeing a non-paid carer can take many forms\, you might be a friend\, family member\, neighbour\, partner\, peer\, or colleague. You might provide practical\, emotional support\, or both. In fact\, anyone could be a carer – a student supporting a housemate with early signs of an eating disorder\, a family member supporting their brother-in law with depression\, or a husband supporting his wife with complex PTSD. \nTraining delivered over 4 sessions\, covering the following topics: \n1. Understanding mental health challenges – An opportunity to explore what it can be like to experience mental health challenges and how mental health needs impact on people’s behaviour.\n2. Support people with mental health needs to make changes – To explore some of the challenges of supporting people to make changes and introduce some techniques for working with change.\n3. Conflict and crisis – Reducing and managing conflict and crises with the person you support.\n4. Learning\, reflecting and support – To be better able to establish clear boundaries\, positive communication and relationships. \nFunded by BANES\, Swindon & Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BSW CCG). \n“Caring for someone with mental health problems can often be challenging. Those that attend the training leave with a range of skills and approaches to aid their caring role\, as well as a range of stress management techniques and self-care ideas”\, Carolyn Trippick\, St Mungo’s Volunteer. \nFeedback from past participants: \n“If you are a carer\, this course is vital to understanding how looking after you helps look after the person you are caring for”. \n“The content was really informative. People were interactive with each other. Trainer was knowledgeable and friendly”. \n“Everyone was given time to have a voice “share” their stories if they wanted to\, as much or as little as they wanted. No pressure. Looking at self was really useful tool to be a better carer and look after myself better….”. \n“Really helpful – covering quite a range of topics. Meeting other carers invaluable\, too. DESCRIPTION:Open to all ages and all singing ability – you do not have to read music! Come along on a Thursday evening from 7:30-9pm to learn some fantastic gospel\, blues and soul songs with great tunes and beautiful harmonies. \nOur repertoire is changing and developing all the time. It currently includes O Happy Day\, Down In The River To Pray\, Trumpets\, Goodnight Sweetheart and other joyful\, fun\, soul and gospel classics. \nThe emphasis is on bringing the music to life. We move\, dance\, clap; we infuse the music with fun and laughter. We also encourage people to sing solos\, duets and in quartets and enable newcomers and beginners to find their voice and experience the joy of singing. \nEnjoy singing quick-to-learn tunes and discover the satisfaction of singing in a group! \nEach session is £8. SUMMARY:KANDU ARTS HOST A FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR TURKEY & SYRIA
DESCRIPTION:In response to the devastating earthquake that struck near Gaziantep in the early hours of Monday 6th February\, Kandu Arts are raising money for those who have lost family\, their homes and who are seeking refuge in a country that is responding to this unexpected disaster. \nKandu Arts will continually be providing live music\, poetry and delicious homemade cakes in their Kandu S.H.O.P (Social Hub Of Positivity) located in Emery Gate Shopping Centre\, Chippenham. This will be starting\, Tuesday 7th of February\, until the end of the week in hopes to bring awareness and raise money for those who are currently suffering in Turkey and Syria due to the 7.5 magnitude earthquake. \nFEBRUARY 9TH – FUNDRAISING GIG AT THE FLYING MONK FROM 7:30PM \nKandu Arts will be hosting a fundraising gig at The Flying Monk in the heart of Chippenham – Market Place – with live music from Geoff Hill\, Ed Deedigan\, Jess Wilks\, Jonah Jones and many more. \nKandu Arts have been working with families\, young people and the community\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach since 1998. In response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine\, leaving thousands left homeless\, Kandu Arts has successfully raised money and awareness for Ukraine by hosting fundraising concerts.
