DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Flower Club is honoured to host Michael Bowyer\, MBE as he performs his floral demonstration ‘Twixt Spring and Summer’. \nMichael is a NAFAS demonstrator\, judge and president of the South West Area of NAFAS. He is known as the David Beckham of Flower Arranging\, admired and respected for his floral art. He supervises the arrangements at Salisbury Cathedral and was in charge of two pedestal at Westminster Abbey for the funeral of our late Queen. \nMichael is joining us on 13th May at Sheldon School Hall. This promises to be an enjoyable evening\, apart from Michael’s demonstration we have our popular Plant Stall\, Bring and Buy stall and our Sales Stall\, as well as refreshments. As always there is a raffle where for £1.00 a strip of tickets you could win one of Michael’s displays. \nMembers are free\nVisitors – £6.00\nAccompanied children are welcome.\nDoors open at 6.45pm

SUMMARY:Walk Maud Heath's Causeway with Get Wiltshire Walking
DESCRIPTION:The walk is going to be led by the experienced team from Get Wiltshire Walking and there are three different walk lengths. \nEveryone will meet at 9.30am on the corner of Langley Road and Foundry Lane in Chippenham\, where the stone marks the end of Maud Heath’s Causeway. \nThe shortest walk will stop at Langley Burrell Village Hall and return to the start point. This is approximately 3 miles long. \nThe second walk will go all the way to the Moravian Church in East Tytherton and back to Chippenham. This is approximately 7.5 miles long. \nFinally\, the longest walk will go all the way to the start of the causeway at the top of Wick Hill and back into Chippenham. This walk is just shy of 10 miles. \nThere will be tea\, coffee\, cake and toilets at Langley Burrell Village Hall and The Moravian Church in East Tytherton* (*Whilst the Moravian Church does not have a public toilet\, for walkers who are desperate the Minister has said they can use hers). \nPlease make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather (we will update you nearer the time) and shoes for walking. DESCRIPTION:Our Oral History training is taking place at The Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre on Monday 20 May\, 10am to 1pm. \nWe will have the opportunity to tour the county archives to see where the full recordings will be stored. We will learn about how to carry out and record a good oral history interview and have time to practice. \nThe session will be led by Ruth Butler from the History Centre and tea\, coffee and biscuits will be provided. \nOnce we have completed our training\, we will talk about how we are going to conduct the interviews for this project and what we are going to do with them. \nThe interviews will take place during June\, July & August and we can use The Calne Heritage Centre as a base for this. I will be coordinating the interviews. A few people have come forward to say they would like to share their stories. DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

We will have a large variety of attractions for all the family to enjoy and we expect to have in excess of 250 cherished cars attending as well as a performance Arena\, Fairground\, Local Foods\, Craft\, Charity and Trade Stands. \nOur main charity this year is Dorothy House Hospialong with other Lions Charities – local\, national and international – but mostly local. \nThe site is in the Chippenham countryside with the Avon close by\, a couple of miles north of Chippenham and about three miles south of the M4 J17.
