DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join our annual quest for bats and moths in and around Baydons Meadow! \nMeet by the interpretation board and log seat near the cycle path and blue footbridge over the Avon. \nPaul Darby\, who used to work for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust\, will chat about the bats and lend out several bat detectors for the evening so that we can listen out for the clicks from their calls as we look up for them flitting through the trees just after dusk. \nMichael Sammes\, amateur-lepidopterist of our group\, will talk about and show us any moths that visit the moth-trap and white sheet that he will put out there. DESCRIPTION:Following their parents divorce\, three sisters live in the house of their grandparents in Kamakura. One day\, they receive news of the death of their father\, whom they have not seen in fifteen years. At the funeral\, they meet their fourteen year old half-sister\, who is living with her stepmother and stepbrother. \nAfter observing the behaviour of the stepmother at the funeral\, the sisters invite their sister\, whom they have just met\, to live with them\, in their grandmother’s home. \nOur Little Sister received the most nominations (12) at the 39th Japan Academy Prize\, winning four of them including Picture of the Year and Director of the Year. The four actresses who portrayed the sisters were all awarded or nominated for the acting awards. Haruka Ayase was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role\, Masami Nagasawa and Kaho were nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Leading Role and Suzu Hirose won Newcomer of the Year). \nThe film also won Audience Award at San Sebastián International Film Festival.

SUMMARY:Open Day at Pewsham Locks
DESCRIPTION:The restoration of a former waterway on the edge of Chippenham will be celebrated at a special event this weekend. The Wilts & Berks Canal Trust is sharing the fascinating history of Pewsham Locks this Saturday 14th September. \nThe event includes a pop-up café and tours of the worksite and wildlife habitats\, together with boat rides along the stretch which has already been rebuilt. The charity hopes it will encourage people to learn more about the restoration campaign and how they can get involved. \n\nThe pop-up café at the wharf includes outside seating and will be serving teas\, coffees and cakes from 10am\, when volunteers will also start taking small groups around the site to explain their current work and future plans.\nTours of the wildflower meadow and habitat management project will take place at Double Bridge at 11am and 2.30pm\, while boat rides will depart from the locks approximately every 45 minutes from 12.30pm.\nRefreshments and boat rides are available by cash donation or by scanning a QR code.\nThe open day is due to finish at around 3pm.\n\nThe event is being organised by the Melksham\, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Trust. Spokesperson Brian Wright said: \n“We hope people will make the most of this opportunity to take a closer look at the flight of locks which once lifted narrowboats on their journey between Melksham and Chippenham \nVisitors will see the remains of the lock-keepers cottage and how we’re rebuilding the former dry dock and carpenter’s workshop\, and creating new wildlife habitats alongside the canal. Depending on the water levels\, they can also enjoy cruises to Double Bridge and back\, with the chance to see kingfishers\, herons\, swans and even otters! \nIt’s a great way to encourage people to support our campaign to bring this wonderful waterway back to life.” \nThere is no visitor parking at the locks\, but the site is just a short walk along a footpath from the edge of Pewsham.
