DESCRIPTION:Training offered for representatives of community groups that provide support for local people struggling with bills or needing extra support. This is a ‘train the trainer’ style session so that delegates can confidently share the advice to other staff and volunteers within their own organisations and support their service users. \nThe Wessex Water Tailored Assistance programme comprises a wide range of affordability support to help customers who are struggling to pay their bills including flexible payment plans\, payment breaks\, payments direct from benefits\, low income discounts and bill caps. \nWe are doubling the number of people we can support. Find out what support is available and how to signpost service users to access it. \nThe session will also cover the scope of our Priority Services Register for customers with health or communication vulnerabilities\, who require extra support including assistance during water supply disruptions\, help with meter readings\, password system to protect against bogus callers and alternative format or language communications. \nThe nearest long stay (over 2 hours) parking is at Bath Road car park (Wiltshire Council). SUMMARY:Bristol Avon Rivers Trust - Yellow Fish
DESCRIPTION:Only rain down the drain! \nDid you know that surface road drains lead directly into your local watercourse? This means that anything other than rain poured down the drain\, such as litter\, car oils\, detergents\, weed killers or wastewater can harm river health and its wildlife! \nBristol Avon River Trust (BART) are running an exciting Yellow Fish Campaign in the local area to help raise awareness of the impacts of human activity on water quality in the Bristol Avon. We are hosting a series of Yellowfish events with the local community\, which involves putting up posters to spread the message and painting yellow fish next to surface drains to remind the public that what enters the drain\, flows directly into the nearby river or stream. \nVolunteers will use stencils and chalk-based yellow spray paint to mark a yellow fish shape (a great family friendly activity!) \nBristol Avon Rivers Trust: is a charity which delivers education\, land and river management advice and practical river restoration work throughout the Bristol Avon catchment. BART is working in partnership with Wessex Water through the Community Connectors project (https://www.wessexwater.co.uk/visit-and-learn/community-connectors).
