DESCRIPTION:Sutton Benger Arts Festival – hosted by BArts \nFriday 15th\, Saturday 16th\, Sunday 17th July 2022. \nThis Arts Festival is a weekend of Live Music\, Dance\, Theatre\, Art\, Song\, Workshops and Children’s Activities. Everything from Folk\, Rock and Jazz\, to circus skills\, Art Exhibitions\, Arts and Craft stalls\, amusements and even a collection of cherished vehicles from the local area. Variety of food traders\, beer tent and Gin and Prosecco bar available all weekend. \nFestival line-up: \nFolk Friday (ticketed event)\nThree fantastic professional Folk bands all at one venue will open the festival. These are: FALSE LIGHTS\, FLATS & SHARPS\, and SUTHERING \n\nGates open 6.30pm\nTickets and more information available at www.bengerarts.org\n\nFestival Saturday\nFun packed family day with the choice to participate in art\, crafts\, theatre and music workshops\, strolling around the art exhibition\, browsing through the arts and craft stalls\, enjoying the fairground rides and getting involved in dancing a Ceilidh (Barn Dance) the finale of the day will be to sit back and enjoy fantastic live music on the stage provided by local bands:\nMICK O’TOOLE\, MY BELOVED MONSTER\, AIMIE K and RUSTY MIKES \n\nGates open 11am.\nLive music will start at approximately at 4pm.\n\nJazz Brunch Sunday\nCome along and chill out by enjoying a delicious brunch box available to purchase from Canape Kitchen and even a cocktail\, whilst listening to the wonderful Big Brunch Band. \n\nGates open 10.30am\n\n\nTruly something for everyone. \nLocation: Sutton Benger Recreational Ground\, Chestnut Road\, Sutton Benger\, Wiltshire\, SN15 4RP. SUMMARY:Battle of Chippenham Re-enactment
DESCRIPTION:The English Civil War returns to Chippenham as the Town plays host to the English Civil War Society and the town is returned to the dramatic Summer of 1643 when the Civil War raged across Wiltshire and the West Country. \nEach afternoon there will be intense conflict as the Royalist and Roundhead Armies clash in Battle on Monkton Park with over 400 Pikemen\, Musketeers\, Gunners\, and Cavalry all taking part. This event\, inspired by a dramatic moment in Chippenham’s history will prove to be a massive weekend of Entertainment\, Excitement and Education by the English Civil War Society. \nAs in 1643\, Chippenham Village will also be occupied by Royalist soldiers from Sir Ralph Hopton’s army marching from the hard-fought battle at Lansdown Hill near Bath. Soldiers and Officers will be working at their Military Encampment while expecting a visit from their General Sir Ralph. A Regiment of Foote\, Cavalry on Horseback\, and Cannon will be taking part in further displays through the day for Visitors to see on Monkton Park. \nThere will be a large and thriving encampment and tented village on The Island\, Monkton Park\, where 17th Century trades and crafts will be demonstrated by the townsfolk and including a working printing press giving out the latest newssheets with tidings of the war and other news. Here the re-enactors will be happy to meet visitors\, explain their work and to share stories about Chippenham’s role in the English Civil War. \nCheck out the full timetable giving details of all the Displays through each day: –
