DESCRIPTION:Returning to school after the summer holidays can be a daunting prospect for many.\nIt can cause stress\, anxiety and unease. \nPerhaps your child is moving up to a secondary school.\nPerhaps they are moving to a different school.\nPerhaps your child is sensitive to change and finds it difficult to deal with.\nPerhaps their experience of being at school is not always enjoyable.\nPerhaps they just need a space in which they can re-charge and re-set their mind for the new school year. \nI understand how stressful and demanding the transition can be both for children and parents. \nThis summer I’d like to help you make the experience a bit easier\, smoother and less stressful. \nThat’s why we’ve decided to hold a mindfulness and meditation workshop. \nWhat would it be like to spend 2 hours in a space in which your child can totally relax\, escape their worries\, be free of anxiety and stress ? \nWhat would it be like for you and your child to spend 2 hours exploring your ability to find peace through fun mindful activities and games\, through listening to soothing sounds and a guided visualisation? \nWhat would it be like to learn techniques which can help you and your children ease their anxiety helping them manage their return to school better? \nWhat would it feel like to be with your child\, be truly present with them and create genuine connection for you so that you can support them during the transition back to school and beyond? \nOur mindfulness and meditation workshop for parents and children offers just that. \nI’m Katerina\, founder of MindCraft\, and at the very end of the summer holidays I bring you a unique workshop for children and their parents. My workshop is designed to support children\, young teens and their parents who: \n– find the transition back to school after the summer holidays a challenge\n– suffer from anxiety\, stress or overwhelm\nare sensitive to change. New environments and people can cause anxiety and distress\nare curious about mindfulness and meditation\n– would like to learn tools and techniques to ease anxiety and stress\n-look for a safe\, supportive and non-judgemental space\n– need to unwind and relax after a busy summer\n– struggle with self-confidence \nTickets are £10 per child and £20 per adult. DESCRIPTION:Sign up to Doorways Supermarket Sweep cycling fundraising event – taking place on Sunday 24th September\, there are a few routes for all abilities\, including a gentle family friendly route starting in John Coles Park cycling to Morrisons\, and routes of 25 miles and 45 miles for those wanting to get the miles in and challenge themselves\, why not get your family\, friends and work colleagues to sponsor you!? \nAll the routes incorporate stops at Supermarkets where you can buy some items off our shopping list to restock our food bank and then cycle to the finish point at Cousin Norman’s to continue the fundraising with a delicious BBQ (included in the ticket price) and a fantastic silent auction to help raise even more for Doorway. \nIf this is sounding like it could be fun and you want to take part but its missing a little something…….here is what the final little surprise might be….you don’t have to worry if you don’t have any lycra cycling shorts…we encourage you to dress up\, wear something fun\, bright and colourful and you could win a prize for the best dressed. \nIt’s going to be a fun day for all with plenty of entertainment after the hard work of cycling and raising money for Doorway.

SUMMARY:Making Spaces: Creative Project
DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Museum is launching a new project to work with Ukrainian families\, alongside a local artist\, to produce a new artwork exploring Chippenham and the surrounding area as a place of refuge. \nThe project is inspired by the work of Belgian artist Charles Wellens and Polish artist Piotr Potworowski\, who each fled conflicts in the 20th century and made their home in the area. Work by both artists is currently on display in the museum. \nThese sessions are free and family friendly\, but booking is required. \nIf you would like to take part or want to find out more please contact the museum on 01249 705020 or by emailing heritage@chippenham.gov.uk. We are also hosting an Open Evening for Ukrainian families and their hosts on Thursday 19 October\, where you can find out more about the museum and our Making Spaces project.

DESCRIPTION:We would love for you to come along to our Pre-loved Clothes Event. We will have a range of adult and children’s clothes and other accessories (e.g. shoes & bags)\, books and toys which you can help yourselves to for free. \nWe are starting the event earlier this year\, to allow more flexibility over the time you can get there\, so please come along at the most convenient time for you. \nDonating clothes and other items is completely optional. If you do have any donations please could you drop them off at Hardenhuish School between 3.30 – 4.30pm whilst we are setting up. If this is not possible please message 07842 346776 and we can make a plan to pick up or drop off donations beforehand. To allow us to set up the hall easily before the event\, we would appreciate if you could sort adult and children’s clothes into size order and label any bags. \nThere will be free hot and cold drinks available. We will be doing a bake sale to raise money for our Chippenham CAP Debt Centre.
