DESCRIPTION:We’re calling on children\, families\, creatives and anyone who loves Lego to come and help us build a version of Chippenham marketplace as it was in 1886. \nGot a hankering to have a go at making the Yelde Hall? Always fancied trying to recreate the Angel Hotel or wanted to construct the Buttercross? \nBased in the History Centre’s education room with local historian Lucy Whitfield\, we’ve got a huge detailed map to work from\, loads of photographs of the buildings\, and tons of enthusiasm – but we also need you and your building skills to try to create the centre of town as it once was. But\, accuracy isn’t the most important thing\, and we don’t mind if your version of the Old Palace (now Chippenham Museum) is green and blue and has extra turrets – it’s coming and having a go that counts.  \nWe’ll also take all donations of Lego for our attempt\, both in the run up to the event and even on the day – bring them to WSHC reception\, or Chippenham Library. The garments have been made using a range of up-cycled materials and have been individually decorated by talented local artists and crafts people.\nThere is a look-book and programme available to accompany the short film\, which enables you to take a closer look at their beautiful work. Then take part in the live\, making tutorial with Refashion My Town which will give you the opportunity to sew one of the garments yourself. The tutorial is suitable for all skill levels and there will be a Q&A at the end of the session. The pattern instructions are available to download when you book your free place for event here. \n\n\nNote: We advise that you download the pattern prior to event\, so we can help clarify anything that may be unclear during the workshop. \nRefashion My Town promotes the reuse and up-cycling of clothing and fabric amongst young people in the area\, to reduce the impact of fast fashion on our environment. \n*This event is part of the Fringe Feb Festival\, sponsored by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity.

DESCRIPTION:Let’s get creative and make our own photography filters with household goods. During this workshop\, we will cover how to create fantastic photographs using DIY filters. \nThe workshop is aimed at ages 7-19 years old. Don’t be put off by the age gap\, tasks and challenges are adjusted depending on age and skill level. You don’t need a fancy camera for this workshop\, anything that has the ability to take a photograph will work great. Eg: Phone\, Tablet\, compact camera\, SLR. During this workshop\, you will take part in interactive games and challenges. By the end of the workshop\, you will have made your very own DIY filters and learnt how to use them effectively. \nThe workshop is split up into 3 parts. Part 1: introduction\, game\, photography challenge and task explained. Part 2: Make your DIY filters and complete the task in your home. DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in taking professional looking photographs from your smart phone? Join Kez from The Photo Club as she shows you how to get the most from your smart phone camera. Learn tips and tricks to take more creative and meaningful photographs. Each phone is different so we will cover what features you have on your phone and how to use them. Some of these include\, focus\, panorama\, monochrome\, light painting\, documents\, portrait\, night and flash. \nAfter the workshop you will be able to put your skills into action whether that be taking photographs of your family\, pets or beautiful landscapes you walk to. The workshop is an interactive workshop\, meaning you will have to leave your computer and test out a certain features or techniques with a photography challenge. Don’t worry you can do this from the room you are in. If you would like to be prepared\, gather some things to photograph and try to be in a well lit room. \nBefore the course please find out the make and model of your phone\, this will help Kez during the workshop if she needs to help you locate a hidden feature. \nBook your place on the workshop here.
