DESCRIPTION:Explore what life was like in Chippenham in the 1920s & 30s\, as objects\, costume\, photographs & artworks bring the era to life. \nMarking the centenary of the opening of John Coles Park in 1923\, this exhibition explores the glamour of the cinema and fashions from the period\, as well as strikes\, protests and the legacy and threat of war. \nTo accompany the exhibition\, there will be a programme of talks and events. More information can be found on the ‘What’s On’ page of our website. \nChippenham Museum\, a Chippenham Town Council facility\, is free entry\, open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm\, including bank holidays.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the second talk in our summer series linked to our current exhibition ‘Chippenham Between the Wars’. \nThe Flapper has become the iconic image of the Roaring Twenties\, a young woman with short hair and hem line to match\, enjoying new freedoms brought about by the emerging female workforce of the First World War. \nThis talk\, with museum Engagement Officer Elaine Davis\, will explore the role of women in the 1920s and 30s and will consider how representative the Flapper image really is. \nThe museum will be open until 6.30pm so visitors can enjoy the exhibition before the talk. \nFree but booking essential via eventbrite here.
