SUMMARY:History Portal Club: Who Lived in Rowden Hill House?
DESCRIPTION:Together\, we’ll explore the site of Rowden Hill House\, most recently used as part of Chippenham Hospital but a much older property with a rich tapestry of residents – including chemists\, silk merchants and aspiring politicians. \nWhat was there before today’s house? \nWho were the families that lived there? \nWhich war hero grew up within its walls? \nThis friendly and interactive club session will explore the history of the building and its surroundings\, from its earliest mentions through to the ambitious and sensitive scheme to preserve the area for future generations.
