SUMMARY:Queen and Country - an exhibition at Chippenham Museum for the Jubilee
DESCRIPTION:This summer the country celebrates Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee as she becomes the first British monarch to spend 70 years on the throne. This year also marks the 380th anniversary of the start of the English Civil War. \nPitting the monarchy against parliament\, the civil war divided the entire country and ended with the execution of a king. To mark these anniversaries Chippenham Museum is holding a dual exhibition ‘Queen and Country’ from 14 May – 23 July. \nHighlights in the exhibition include rare examples of 17th century gloves. One pair on loan from Dents Museum in Warminster are believed to have been belonged to King Charles I. The second pair have recently been acquired by Chippenham Museum with support from the Museums Association Beecroft Bequest. They are thought to have been worn by a member of the Talbot family of Lacock. \nThe exhibition will tie in with the Chippenham Town Council’s wider Jubilee celebrations in June\, and the Civil War Re-enactment coming to Monkton Park 23-24 July. The exhibition will be joined by re-enactors from the English Civil War Society on Saturday 4 June. \nChippenham Museum\, a Chippenham Town Council facility\, is free to visit and openMonday to Saturday\, including Bank Holidays\, 10am to 4pm. Located in the Market Place\, the museum tells the story Chippenham from its prehistoric origins to the present day.

SUMMARY:Wiltshire on Paper: Post-War Prints from the Bath Academy of Art
DESCRIPTION:The ‘Wiltshire on Paper: Post-War Prints from the Bath Academy of Art’ exhibition is a celebration of post-war printmaking from a unique time in Wiltshire’s creative history. \nOn display in Chippenham for the first time\, the exhibition features recent additions to Chippenham Museum’s art collection from the Golder-Thompson Gift. Visitors can enjoy works by nationally recognised artists including Howard Hodgkin\, Clifford & Rosemary Ellis and Anish Kapoor. An exhibition catalogue is soon to be available from the museum and online shop\, supported by the Arts Society (Kington Langley). \n\n8th January – 2nd April\, 2022 (excluding Sundays)\n10am-4pm daily Monday to Saturday\n7pm at special Museum Lates openings once a month. Thursday evenings: 13 January\, 3 February and 3 March.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday 18 September\, join one of four special free Curator’s Tours of exhibition Kilvert’s World at Chippenham Museum for Heritage Open Days. \nJoin a member of the Curation team to find out more about how the exhibition was brought together and some of the stories behind its key objects\, including two of Kilvert’s original diaries on loan from the National Library of Wales.  Please note the exhibition deals with some adult themes. Booking is essential for these free tours at 10.30am\, 12pm\, 1.30pm and 3pm either online or by calling 01249 705020. \nHeritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture. \nExhibition Kilvert’s World is open at Chippenham Museum until Saturday 9 October with free entry. The museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm\, with a special late opening until 7pm on Thursday 9 September and 7 October.

SUMMARY:Spotlight On: Modern & Contemporary Art from the Collection of Chippenham Museum
DESCRIPTION:The second part of Chippenham Museum’s exhibition series celebrating North Wiltshire’s creativity\, Spotlight On features 40 works by local artists. Open Monday to Saturday with free entry\, visitors can drop-in 10am to 1pm or book a free timed ticket at 1pm\, 2pm or 3pm to enjoy sole use of the museum. \nThe collection has been acquired by the museum in the past five years to ensure our collection better represents the amazing artistic talent found in this area. The exhibition includes paintings\, sculpture\, ceramics and photography; almost all of which are on display for the first time and have been donated to the museum by the artists. \nVisitors to John Coles Park and Monkton Park can spot ten images of the exhibition’s artworks on trees with trail Art Outdoors\, sponsored by The Kington Langley Arts Society. SUMMARY:Loose Threads: The Don Little Collection X Bath Textile Artists
DESCRIPTION:Now available to visit online! A celebration of the heritage of Chippenham and the surrounding area\, Loose Threads is a collaborative exhibition between Chippenham Museum and Bath Textile Artists. \nThe exhibition centres on the Don Little Collection. Donald Little lived in Chippenham his entire life and bequeathed to Chippenham Museum his vast collection of postcards\, photographs and ephemera relating to the town. Alongside the collection will be works especially created by the Bath Textile Artists in response to different parts of the collection as diverse as Goss crested china\, World War One postcards and Don’s personal family photographs. View the exhibition on Chippenham Museum’s website here. \nChippenham Museum has launched two online talks and a February half term activity linked to the exhibition – all free to enjoy from home until the museum can re-open again. \nChippenham Museum is a Chippenham Town Council facility.
