DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: a 45-minute concert of mainly classical music\, introduced by the performers. There is a pop-up café from 10.15am where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nOur first programme of 2026 is a varied collection of music by composers of African origin\, from Joseph Bologne Chevalier de Saint-George\, who was a contemporary of Mozart\, to 20th century composers\, in particular from North America. \nThere’s no need to book\, though an RSVP via our website is appreciated. DESCRIPTION:Singing Mamas groups are supportive spaces to meet\, connect and sing beautiful group harmony with NO musical experience needed. There’s no sheet music or lyrics sheets\, everything is taught by ear and we’ll have toys to keep the teeny ones busy while you enjoy some singing. Come as you are and take some time for you! \nIf you’d like to learn some songs that aren’t traditional nursery rhymes\, if you love singing but can’t get to a choir because you’d need to bring your little one(s)\, if you’d like to meet other mums\, if you’d just like to get out of the house and brighten up a February morning then this is the perfect session for you! \nThis free taster at Chippenham library will be around an hour long and will give you a really good flavour of what Singing Mamas is all about. SUMMARY:February 18th 2026 Waverley Album Listening & Live Music Fundraiser Event for Dorothy House Hospice
DESCRIPTION:The Waverley bar in Chippenham hosts a monthly music fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice. We listen to a classic vinyl album alongside music from less well-known artists\, often local musicians. \nThis month\, on Wednesday February 18th at the usual start time of 8pm\, we have live music and another brand-new album for you to enjoy at the Album Listening Party fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice. \nLocal musician and music therapist\, Will Lawton\, will present the music he has created with Argentinian guitarist and songwriter Ludwig Mack\, after a chance meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown period. The album they made together entitled ‘Five Years In The Cotswolds’ is not yet formally released on CD or vinyl\, however they have kindly provided a high-resolution digital copy for us to listen to alongside their live performance at The Waverley. \nIf you are intrigued enough\, you can hear the whole album prior to the release by purchasing a hardback book they have produced about the creation of the record which contains a QR code which gives private access to all 10 album tracks. Copies of the book and other merchandise will be available to buy on the night. \nWe will partner this music with a vinyl playback of Led Zeppelin’s classic third album from 1970 which includes the familiar favourites of the stomping ‘Immigrant Song’ and the slow blues ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You.’ \nAs usual the event is FREE to attend but any voluntary contributions to aid the work of the Hospice will be gratefully received.

DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with music introduced by the performers. There is a pop-up café from 10.15am where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nOur March concert\, in celebration of International Women’s Day\, consists of music by women composers\, featuring Alice Verne-Bredt: Phantasie Trio\, the sublime slow movement of Cécile Chaminade’s Trio no2\, and Rosalind Ellicott’s Trio in D minor\, alongside music by two ‘locals’: a scherzo by Bath composer Kate Loder and a concerto movement by Dora Bright who for many years lived at Babington House. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection. The second hour concentrates on the later hits\, and once again there is an array of brilliance to embrace. \nThe stunning ‘Breakthru’ provides both the introduction and the costume presentation for this part of the set\, which includes a new feature of the Bohemians stage show – a slick rendering of classics from the late eighties and early nineties era. ‘I Want It All’\, ‘The Show Must Go On’ and the haunting ‘Days of our Lives’ are just some of those featured. The set then pays tribute to the sights and sounds of the famous Live Aid performance and of course the awesome ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
