DESCRIPTION:Singing Mamas groups are supportive spaces to meet\, connect and sing beautiful group harmony with NO musical experience needed. There’s no sheet music or lyrics sheets\, everything is taught by ear and we’ll have toys to keep the teeny ones busy while you enjoy some singing. Come as you are and take some time for you! \nIf you’d like to learn some songs that aren’t traditional nursery rhymes\, if you love singing but can’t get to a choir because you’d need to bring your little one(s)\, if you’d like to meet other mums\, if you’d just like to get out of the house and brighten up a February morning then this is the perfect session for you! \nThis free taster at Chippenham library will be around an hour long and will give you a really good flavour of what Singing Mamas is all about. There aren’t any tickets but please let us know if you’re planning on coming. SUMMARY:February 18th 2026 Waverley Album Listening & Live Music Fundraiser Event for Dorothy House Hospice
DESCRIPTION:The Waverley bar in Chippenham hosts a monthly music fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice. We listen to a classic vinyl album alongside music from less well-known artists\, often local musicians. \nThis month\, on Wednesday February 18th at the usual start time of 8pm\, we have live music and another brand-new album for you to enjoy at the Album Listening Party fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice. \nLocal musician and music therapist\, Will Lawton\, will present the music he has created with Argentinian guitarist and songwriter Ludwig Mack\, after a chance meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown period. The album they made together entitled ‘Five Years In The Cotswolds’ is not yet formally released on CD or vinyl\, however they have kindly provided a high-resolution digital copy for us to listen to alongside their live performance at The Waverley. \nIf you are intrigued enough\, you can hear the whole album prior to the release by purchasing a hardback book they have produced about the creation of the record which contains a QR code which gives private access to all 10 album tracks. Copies of the book and other merchandise will be available to buy on the night. \nWe will partner this music with a vinyl playback of Led Zeppelin’s classic third album from 1970 which includes the familiar favourites of the stomping ‘Immigrant Song’ and the slow blues ‘Since I’ve Been Loving You.’ \nAs usual the event is FREE to attend but any voluntary contributions to aid the work of the Hospice will be gratefully received.

SUMMARY:Trio Paradis: Music by women composers at St Andrew’s
DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with music introduced by the performers. There is a pop-up café from 10.15am where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nOur March concert\, in celebration of International Women’s Day\, consists of music by women composers\, featuring Alice Verne-Bredt: Phantasie Trio\, the sublime slow movement of Cécile Chaminade’s Trio no2\, and Rosalind Ellicott’s Trio in D minor\, alongside music by two ‘locals’: a scherzo by Bath composer Kate Loder and a concerto movement by Dora Bright who for many years lived at Babington House. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection. An RSVP via our website is much appreciated but not essential. Trio Paradis Cafe Concerts are ‘pay-what-you-feel’ via a retiring collection\, to keep live music affordable for everyone. Billed as ‘The World’s most exciting Queen Tribute’\, the Bohemians start proceedings as they mean to continue. \nRight from the beginning you will be gripped by a bombastic\, authentic audio-visual representation of Queen’s iconic Wembley 1986 performance\, as the Bohemians burst onto the stage to the strains of ‘One Vision’ and ‘A Kind of Magic’. There are so many fabulous hits to be covered but they’re all here\, from the early piano and harmony heavy wonders of ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’\, to the later\, catchy pop anthems of the eighties. DESCRIPTION:This month we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Hospice with three 50 year old Irish rock albums on vinyl (with a nod to St Patrick’s Day). \nWe will have:\nThin Lizzy ‘Jailbreak’ – released 26 March 1976\nRory Gallagher ‘Calling Card’ – released 22 October 1976\nHorslips ‘The Book of Invasions: A Celtic Symphony’ – released 12 November 1976 \nAll are welcome to our monthly Album Listening Party fundraiser and there is no entry fee\, but voluntary donations to the Hospice are always very welcomed.
