SUMMARY:Trio Paradis: Music by women composers at St Andrew’s
DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with music introduced by the performers. There is a pop-up café from 10.15am where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nOur March concert\, in celebration of International Women’s Day\, consists of music by women composers\, featuring Alice Verne-Bredt: Phantasie Trio\, the sublime slow movement of Cécile Chaminade’s Trio no2\, and Rosalind Ellicott’s Trio in D minor\, alongside music by two ‘locals’: a scherzo by Bath composer Kate Loder and a concerto movement by Dora Bright who for many years lived at Babington House. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection. An RSVP via our website is much appreciated but not essential. Trio Paradis Cafe Concerts are ‘pay-what-you-feel’ via a retiring collection\, to keep live music affordable for everyone. DESCRIPTION:Don’t Stop us Now – and there’s certainly no stopping this comprehensive re-enactment of Queen’s greatest hits! \nOne of the UK’s longest running and Internationally renowned Queen Tribute bands\, The Bohemians\, take you on a high-energy rollercoaster ride of a concert\, featuring the music\, costumes\, and showmanship of one of the world’s most popular and iconic rock acts of all time. Billed as ‘The World’s most exciting Queen Tribute’\, the Bohemians start proceedings as they mean to continue. \nRight from the beginning you will be gripped by a bombastic\, authentic audio-visual representation of Queen’s iconic Wembley 1986 performance\, as the Bohemians burst onto the stage to the strains of ‘One Vision’ and ‘A Kind of Magic’. There are so many fabulous hits to be covered but they’re all here\, from the early piano and harmony heavy wonders of ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’\, to the later\, catchy pop anthems of the eighties. The second hour concentrates on the later hits\, and once again there is an array of brilliance to embrace. \nThe stunning ‘Breakthru’ provides both the introduction and the costume presentation for this part of the set\, which includes a new feature of the Bohemians stage show – a slick rendering of classics from the late eighties and early nineties era. ‘I Want It All’\, ‘The Show Must Go On’ and the haunting ‘Days of our Lives’ are just some of those featured. The set then pays tribute to the sights and sounds of the famous Live Aid performance and of course the awesome ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
