Whether you have already tried acting or directing\, or whether you just want to give it a go\, all levels of experience are welcome. \nWarm up and get to know each other from 11am; free pizza at 12pm; masterclass from 1pm \nMarnie is a professional Theatre Director\, Writer and Storyteller. Having trained in Body Aware\, Mask\, Japanese and Chinese Theatre\, as an actor and director\, Marnie uses the body and text to tell a story. She uses her work in the Arts as a Creative Facilitator and has worked for Theatres throughout the British Isles – Salisbury Playhouse\, The Everyman\, Cheltenham and The Roses Tewkesbury. She has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Prime Theatre. Directing and using drama skills is part of what she does and her work with RADA has been used for communication and confidence projects. \nYou will gain experience of professional working methods and tools to use in your own acting work.

SUMMARY:Chippenham Comedy Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:Comedy fans in the area are in for a real treat this summer as the Chippenham Comedy Festival returns from 5th-7th July. The event is hosted by The Chippenham Comedy Club\, which has been bringing laughter to the town for over two decades thanks to\, award-winning comedian\, Wil Hodgson. The festival promises a hilarious lineup of top comedic talent from across the UK. \n\n\nThe comedy festival kicks off on Friday 5th July at 7pm with Eddie French’s “Poser” – a standup show exploring punk rock\, gender\, nerds and more. Followed at 8:30pm by Stephanie Laing with “Rudder” – a unique blend of standup\, dance\, and cartoon bears tackling bodies\, sex\, liking yourself\, consent\, and healing. Closing out Friday night at 10pm is Stephen Carlin with “Frenemies” where the longtime lone wolf finally embraces society after being a “fully paid up member of the awkward squad”  \nSaturday’s riotous lineup begins at 1:15pm with Bristol favourite\, Burt Williamson’s “Riding Bareback Through Your Mind.” Then at 2:30pm it’s Phil Ellis\, as seen and heard on BBC Radio 4\, BBC2\, Comedy Central and Sky\, before Caitriona Dowden brings her debut solo hour “Holier Than Thou” complete with graphs\, Catholic guilt\, and floating nuns at 3:45pm. Nate Kitch ponders tomorrow’s uncertainties at 5pm followed by Katie Mitchell’s “Wretched” – silly goth standup at its best at 7:15pm. Science fans are in for a treat at 8:30pm with Robin Ince\, the co-host of the legendary “Infinite Monkey Cage” with Brian Cox. Capping off Saturday is the popular “The Real Cheesemakers” band with support from Tom Veck at 10pm. \nSunday starts off at 12:30pm with the dynamic duo of Robin & Wil bringing “Something for the Weekend” – a show filled with random chats and funny observations. Then at 2pm\, David Hoare takes the stage with “1000% Musical Comedy” – a bumper show brimming with silliness and joyfully rude songs. Award winning viral sensation Sooz Kempner follows at 3:30pm with “Class of 2000” before Dani Johns gets viewers laughing off life’s cringeworthy moments with her appropriately titled “Cringe” at 5pm. Where does juggling motherhood\, teenagers\, menopause and worrying about being boring leave you? It’ll be a fun hour of creativity and information that might just change your life\, if not\, it’ll certainly make your day more fun.\nAs part of the Teen Takeover weekend\, the fantastic Christian Foley will be hosting a Hip-hop poetry workshop at Chippenham Library. \nA writer\, rapper and a teacher – all at once\, Christian’s interactive freestyles and improvised performances have been lauded by stars like 50 Cent\, and the creator of the musical Hamilton\, as well as FIFA. Having gone viral multiple times\, he’s a regular on television and radio\, amassing over thirty million views worldwide. \nChristian is one of the few poets in the world selected to complete a ‘Spoken Word Education Programme’ and Teaching MA at Goldsmiths University\, an opportunity which was created to transform professional poets into specialised facilitators. DESCRIPTION:A Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget 🎭❤️ \nKandu Arts is bringing a show to Chippenham that promises a whirlwind romance of stories\, chat and laughs about love. Love Stories\, by Mark Rutterford\, promises a Valentine’s Day event like no other and one you’ll never forget. As the audience eats Love Heart sweets\, they will hear tales of love affairs and heartache but like any romantic encounter\, Love Stories is not a passive experience. \nAudience engagement is a big part of the show. It’s the audience that decides who wins the World Cup of Love Songs\, what happens in one story and\, having heard Mark’s best and worst romantic moments\, they’ll be invited to share their own triumphs and disasters. Laughs and empathy are guaranteed. \nThis interactive theatre piece is that latest offering from Kandu Arts\, a Chippenham based company that has been using the arts and activities to explore a wide range of issues and nurture strong relationships within the community for 25 years. \nAn alien reports that he just ‘doesn’t get it\,’ but the 4-Star Review from last year’s Bath Fringe Festival says that you will feel the connection and that you might be beguiled into leaving your cynic at the door. \n“the connection…is what makes the night – during our short time together we become friends hanging out” \nBackground \nMark Rutterford is a writer-performer that has been performing stories across the South West for a decade. Love Stories is Mark’s first solo show – it made its debut at Bath Fringe Festival in May 2023 (4-Stars) and went on to Shaftesbury Fringe in July and Camden Fringe in August last year. The mix of performance\, props\, emotions and audience engagement are key features in the inclusive\, funny and entertaining show Mark wanted to create. He is delighted to be working with Kandu Arts and to be performing in Chippenham for the first time – he hopes to do more of both in future. \nKandu Arts for sustainable development is based in Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, and has worked since 1998 with communities\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach up and down the country. They use music\, film\, visual arts & sport as a means to explore a wide range of issues. Combined with nurturing strong relationships\, this approach is highly effective in areas of engaging the disaffected\, increasing community cohesion and development.

DESCRIPTION:Everyone is welcome to join us for the theatrical performance of “Return to the hiding place”\, the story of Corrie Ten Boom. Doors open at 6:45 and only £7 per ticket! \nA reimagining of Corrie Ten Boom’s biographical tale of forgiveness and reconciliation in the shadows of WW2. The family bravely hide Jews in their small clock shop. The consequences are dark and devastating. \nThe production looks not only at the story from Corrie’s viewpoint but also from a German army officer’s angle as well. How do they both regard their families\, their faith\, the Jewish people and the occupation of Holland? \nThey begin in different worlds\, but eventually come face to face with each other. Moving and inspiring\, and relevant for today. \nSuitable for anyone age 12+
