DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the rich history and life around canals\, Chippenham Folk Festival presents a morning exploring canals. \nJoin Dave Maloney\, volunteer from the Wilts and Berks Canal Trust\, sharing wonderful stories of our local canal. This is a tale of history\, community\, and the long-term project to restore the local canal.\nStoryteller and narrowboat dweller Ian Douglas has salvaged a wealth of stories from the depths. \nMurder and mystery\, heroes and love\, devils and oatcakes are all wrapped up in this storytelling session on canal life. \nAfter a brief intermission the Towpath Singers share their canal-based shanties.

SUMMARY:Shooting Roots: Song workshop
DESCRIPTION:Part of Chippenham Folk Festival’s youth festival\, but open to all 11-17s across the area. \nFolk arts specialists Shooting Roots travel folk festivals across the country\, a organisation of young people working with teens to have fun together\, learn new skills\, explore folk arts and make new friends. \nIn the song workshops\, you’re invited to sing your heart out and create harmonies with other young people under the expert guidance of Shooting Roots’ vocal tutors. Bring your voices and favourite songs to the party\, and learn new songs from the fantastic tutors to nourish your soul. \nWith three workshops across the weekend\, participants will work together to build an original performance to showcase on the festival’s Community Stage on Monday afternoon. \nEither pay £3 on the door\, or purchase a £25 youth ticket to the festival\, which allows access to all Chippenham Folk Festival’s exclusive youth events for 11-17 year olds as well as the rest of the festival – all ceilidhs\, dances\, concerts\, workshops across the weekend.
