DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

SUMMARY:Community Connectors - Tailored Assistance Programme training
DESCRIPTION:Training offered for representatives of community groups that provide support for local people struggling with bills or needing extra support. This is a ‘train the trainer’ style session so that delegates can confidently share the advice to other staff and volunteers within their own organisations and support their service users. \nThe Wessex Water Tailored Assistance programme comprises a wide range of affordability support to help customers who are struggling to pay their bills including flexible payment plans\, payment breaks\, payments direct from benefits\, low income discounts and bill caps. \nWe are doubling the number of people we can support. Find out what support is available and how to signpost service users to access it. \nThe session will also cover the scope of our Priority Services Register for customers with health or communication vulnerabilities\, who require extra support including assistance during water supply disruptions\, help with meter readings\, password system to protect against bogus callers and alternative format or language communications. \nThe nearest long stay (over 2 hours) parking is at Bath Road car park (Wiltshire Council). Parking fees apply. Please be ready to start the session at 10am prompt. We look forward to working with you.

DESCRIPTION:The Chippenham Art Group will meet monthly on Wednesdays in King Alfred Hall\, St Andrew’s Church in Chippenham Market Place. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nOur art groups are friendly\, relaxing\, therapeutic and fun.  People living with dementia and a family carer create their own art projects under Fran’s guidance with projects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection.  No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas. \nFamily carers are welcome at the group as full members and encouraged to join in to create their own pieces of art. SUMMARY:Movement for the Mind Chippenham group
DESCRIPTION:The Movement for the Mind group in Chippenham meets fortnightly on Tuesdays. \nThe group offers people living with dementia and a family carer the chance to take part in gentle exercise to music in a supportive and friendly group setting. \nSessions start with a warm-up before moving on to the main activity. Everyone is encouraged to do as much or little as they feel able to and you do not have to be ‘super-fit’ to take part. People with restricted mobility and wheelchair users are welcome.
