SUMMARY:Mental health training for non-paid carers of loved ones with mental health challenges (Online)
DESCRIPTION:This training aims to help non-paid carers supporting a loved one with lived experience of mental health problems. \nBeing a non-paid carer can take many forms\, you might be a friend\, family member\, neighbour\, partner\, peer\, or colleague. You might provide practical\, emotional support\, or both. In fact\, anyone could be a carer – a student supporting a housemate with early signs of an eating disorder\, a family member supporting their brother-in law with depression\, or a husband supporting his wife with complex PTSD. \nThe training is delivered over 4 sessions (online\, via Zoom). Topics covered include: understanding mental health challenges\, supporting people with mental health needs to make changes\, conflict and crisis\, as well as learning\, reflecting and supporting. \nTraining funded by BANES\, Swindon & Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BSW CCG). \n“Caring for someone with mental health problems can often be challenging. Those that attend the training leave with a range of skills and approaches to aid their caring role\, as well as a range of stress management techniques and self-care ideas”\, Carolyn Trippick\, St Mungo’s Volunteer. \nFeedback from past participants: \n“If you are a carer\, this course is vital to understanding how looking after you helps look after the person you are caring for”. \n“The content was really informative. People were interactive with each other. Trainer was knowledgeable and friendly”. \n“Everyone was given time to have a voice “share” their stories if they wanted to\, as much or as little as they wanted. No pressure. Looking at self was really useful tool to be a better carer and look after myself better….”. \n“Really helpful – covering quite a range of topics. Meeting other carers invaluable\, too. Really well organised\, wish I’d known about it ages ago! \nBooking via Eventbrite \nParticipants should be available to attend all 4 sessions\, in order to complete the course – Monday 16th\, 23rd\, 30th Jan & Mon 6th Feb 2023\, 6:00-8:30pm via Zoom. SUMMARY:Stay Safe Online! Cyber Security training for smaller charities and community groups.
DESCRIPTION:Anyone can be impacted by cyber crime\, even charities. To the criminals you’re just another target that hasn’t protected themselves properly. Doing the basics right will go a long way in keeping your charity secure\, which is what this awareness session from NAVCA and the NCSC aims to provide. \nFurther Information: \nWhat is cyber crime? \nCyber crime is an ‘umbrella’ term for lots of crimes which either take place online or where technology is a means and/or target for attack. \nIt is one of the fastest growing criminal activities across the world\, and can affect both individuals and community groups and charities. \nSometimes it’s easy to assume that charities and community groups are either too small or too ‘nice’ to be targeted\, but have you thought about the impact of a fraudulent invoice getting through the system\, how difficult it is to be truly data secure\, and how damaging it is to find your email system or website unexpectedly offline? The smallest organisations are often the most vulnerable in all sorts of ways. And the average cost to a charity of a cyber security breach has been calculated to be around £1\,030. \nIf you are running a small group\, organisation or charity you are likely to be holding data. Come and find out how some simple effective measures can protect you and your community group or charity. \nWho the course is aimed at: \nThroughout the session\, your trainer will help you understand the content through real life examples\, videos and most importantly by removing the jargon that can make cyber security seem difficult to understand. The training will also be attended by the Cyber Prevent & Protect Officers for the Wiltshire Police. \nWhat the course will cover: \nThrough this session you can expect to learn – \n\nWhat is cyber security\nThreats that charities face\nBacking up your data\nProtecting your charity from malware\nKeeping your smartphones safe\nUsing passwords\nAvoiding phishing attacks\nReporting an incident\n\nThis is a free course for charities\, social enterprises\, community or voluntary groups. \nThe virtual session will be deliver online via Zoom. Attendees will receive a link to join the event a week prior\, via email.
