Meet: 8:50am at the Multi-use Games Area in Monkton Park \nThe course is run on a mixture of trail paths\, tarmac paths and gravel paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud\, leaves and puddles after rain. \nIt offers an opportunity for all the local community\, regardless of age or gender\, to come together on a regular basis to enjoy the outdoors and get physically active. DESCRIPTION:For the fourth year running\, come and experience the banks of the River Avon spectacularly lit up\, bringing some wonderful Christmas cheer into the heart of Chippenham. Situated within it’s usual spot of The Island in Monkton Park\, the event will once more feature a full roster of live\, festive entertainment. \nThe trail will be open Thursday 28th November – Sunday 1st December (inclusive). \nWith family friendly activities\, workshops and performances throughout the afternoon\, leading on to more adult based evening entertainment. Showcasing live Music and Comedy from some excellent musicians and comedians\, to Film Screenings\, Festive Workshops\, Artisan Market stall traders and even a live Brass Band playing Christmas Carols by Candlelight! \nThe event is funded by Chippenham Town Council in collaboration with Melt Productions and is a completely free experience for the local community and surrounding areas to enjoy. \nAll seating will be allocated on a first come\, first serve basis\, so please ensure you arrive nice and early if you are keen to watch any of the live shows and entertainment. \nThis years’ focal point will once again be the beautiful wooden Roundhouse\, a cosy\, heated wooden structure serving up delicious hot and cold drinks and tasty food from local vendors. SUMMARY:The Other Sister Josephine - Community Song Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Chippenham’s Sister Josephine Toomey didn’t found the convent pontoon team or rest her boots on the altar screen (like the one of Jake Thackray fame)\, but she did escape the Irish famine\, help found the town’s Catholic church\, teach children and have stones thrown at her. \nBring instruments\, voices and minds to help collaborate and create a new song exploring and celebrating her life. \nLed by musician Louise Jordan (lead musician on Maud’s Way project 2024) and local women’s history specialist Lucy Whitfield (Women Who Made Me project). Part of Chippenham Folk Festival 2025\, open to everyone. \nThemes: Migration. Displacement. Famine. Prejudice. Faith. Poverty.
