DESCRIPTION:The River Run is back for 2022! \nThe 5k River Run and 2k Fun Run follow a largely traffic free multi-terrain route along the banks of the River Avon\, starting and finishing in Monkton Park\, near the Olympiad Leisure Centre. \nThe River Run is a great community event which attracts people of all abilities and ages. The 5k distance means that it is ideal for the beginners and the inclusion of the Fun Run makes it the perfect summer evening event for families. The 5k is open to anyone aged 13 and over and the Fun Run is for 4 – 14 year olds. \nPrizes in age categories for both races. All 5k finishers will receive a Tech T shirt with a brand new design for 2022. All Fun Run 2k finishers receive a medal.

DESCRIPTION:Our Try Climbing fun day is a perfect opportunity to have a go at rock climbing\, play games\, find out about climbing and meet the team behind Chippenham’s new activity centre. \nEvent details \n\n9.30am – 4.00pm on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August 2021* at Westmead Playing Field\, off Westmead Lane\, Chippenham\, SN15 3HZ\nMeet staff from The Climbing Academy who will be running The Arc. They will be on hand to provide information about climbing and their other centres\, share special offers and to play games with attendees.\nStaff and trustees from Chippenham Borough Lands Charity will be able to provide you with further information about the Westmead Activity Centre\, the ‘Borough Lands’ and our grant giving to Chippenham residents.\nGet a taste of this exhilarating lifetime sport on a mobile self-belaying climbing wall provided by Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT).\nOpen to over 5-year olds and suitable for all ages (please note to fit the harnesses you need to be under 18 stone).\n£1 to climb each wall with 4 walls to climb in total.\nThe walls can have 4 people climbing at any one time and use automatic belays. The auto belay system ensures each climber descends steadily and safely at all times.\nThere are different climbing challenges across the 4 climbing routes making it perfect for complete beginners to experienced climbers. The WOLT team will be available to provide support and assistance to every climber.\nNo pre-booking required.\nWhile climbing the Mobile Climbing Wall we recommend wearing casual clothes and sensible shoes.\nLight refreshments will be on offer from Just on the Hoof\, including barista coffee\, milkshakes and homemade cake.\n\n \n*Please note – If it looks like there will be heavy rain or strong winds over the few days from the 20th-22nd August the event will be postponed. DESCRIPTION:Join writer\, facilitator and performer Ruth Hill at Chippenham Museum for a day of writing and performing. \n\nIn the morning you will write something inspired by the museum’s exhibition which focusses on local Victorian diarist Rev. Francis Kilvert. \nUsing the exhibition for inspiration\, you will write stories\, poems and scripts. Ruth will help you create a piece of work you are proud of and in the afternoon\, you will work together to direct\, stage and perform your pieces of writing to a small audience of your family and friends. \nYou can take part as a writer\, performer\, director or all three. Come and develop your skills\, whether you love writing and performing\, or just want to give it a go. \n£20\, book here. Ages 8 and above\, please bring a packed lunch. \n

DESCRIPTION:Turn up and play between 10am and 3pm for a selection of Football\, Handball\, Tag Rugby\, Lacrosse\, Kwik Cricket\, Rounders\, Ultimate Frisbee and Dodgeball. \n\nWednesday 28th July – Little Battens Multi Use Games Area\nThursday 5th August – John Coles Park Multi Use Games Area and field\nTuesday 10th August – Pewsham Park Multi Use Games Area\nMonday 23 August – Monkton Park Multi Use Games Area and main field.\n\nThere will be 2 qualified sports coaches from Up and Under Sports for each session with no booking required. \nSuitable for all Primary and Secondary school aged children. \nThis is a Chippenham Town Council event funded by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity.
