DESCRIPTION:A Valentine’s Day you’ll never forget 🎭❤️ \nKandu Arts is bringing a show to Chippenham that promises a whirlwind romance of stories\, chat and laughs about love. Love Stories\, by Mark Rutterford\, promises a Valentine’s Day event like no other and one you’ll never forget. As the audience eats Love Heart sweets\, they will hear tales of love affairs and heartache but like any romantic encounter\, Love Stories is not a passive experience. \nAudience engagement is a big part of the show. It’s the audience that decides who wins the World Cup of Love Songs\, what happens in one story and\, having heard Mark’s best and worst romantic moments\, they’ll be invited to share their own triumphs and disasters. Laughs and empathy are guaranteed. \nThis interactive theatre piece is that latest offering from Kandu Arts\, a Chippenham based company that has been using the arts and activities to explore a wide range of issues and nurture strong relationships within the community for 25 years. \nAn alien reports that he just ‘doesn’t get it\,’ but the 4-Star Review from last year’s Bath Fringe Festival says that you will feel the connection and that you might be beguiled into leaving your cynic at the door. \n“the connection…is what makes the night – during our short time together we become friends hanging out” \nBackground \nMark Rutterford is a writer-performer that has been performing stories across the South West for a decade. Love Stories is Mark’s first solo show – it made its debut at Bath Fringe Festival in May 2023 (4-Stars) and went on to Shaftesbury Fringe in July and Camden Fringe in August last year. The mix of performance\, props\, emotions and audience engagement are key features in the inclusive\, funny and entertaining show Mark wanted to create. He is delighted to be working with Kandu Arts and to be performing in Chippenham for the first time – he hopes to do more of both in future. \nKandu Arts for sustainable development is based in Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, and has worked since 1998 with communities\, often the most marginalized and hardest to reach up and down the country. They use music\, film\, visual arts & sport as a means to explore a wide range of issues. Combined with nurturing strong relationships\, this approach is highly effective in areas of engaging the disaffected\, increasing community cohesion and development.

SUMMARY:Peter Potworowski: West Country Exile
DESCRIPTION:Born in Poland in 1898\, Peter Potworowski was part of the Parisian Artistic community of the 1920s that included the likes of Picasso\, Bonnard\, and Léger. After the Nazi-occupation of his home-land Potworowski settled in England in 1943\, beginning a long association with the West Country. \nThe majority of works in this selling exhibition are from his time living in Cornwall\, Devon\, Somerset and Wiltshire. In 1949 he joined the teaching staff at the Bath Academy of Art\, Corsham\, where his own work as an artist matured in contact with the English landscape. \nChippenham Museum\, a Chippenham Town Council facility\, is free entry\, open Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm\, including bank holidays.

DESCRIPTION:Come along and hand select some beautiful\, original art work produced by our very talented Life Drawing artists. From £10\, £15 or £20 – all pieces have been kindly donated by our lovely groups. \nWe don’t have any core funding and keep our costs as low as possible so that more people can attend. But that means that much of our work is done for free. We make regular fundraising efforts but aren’t always successful\, so this will help us hugely. You get beautiful\, affordable\, original art. We get help to keep our sessions and productions affordable. Everyone’s a winner!

SUMMARY:Contemporary Print & The Ink on Paper Press
DESCRIPTION:This free exhibition celebrates the best in contemporary printmaking and the INK on PAPER PRESS\, founded in Wiltshire by artist Amy-Jane Blackhall in 2015. Blackhall trained under Master Printer Jack Shirreff at 107 Workshop in Shaw\, where she worked on editions for renowned artists such as Howard Hodgkin and Gillian Ayres. The etching press that stands at the heart of the studio came from 107 Workshop. \nAll the works featured in the exhibition were printed at the INK on PAPER PRESS. Works by Royal Academicians Emma Stibbon and Ann Christopher will be shown alongside other innovative printmakers including Celia Cook\, Ian Chamberlain\, and the late Michael Pennie. All of the prints on show were recently acquired through the Golder-Thompson Gift to Chippenham Museum in Memory of Arthur Norman. \nThis will be the third and final exhibition in our special series displaying works from the Golder-Thompson Gift. Marking the prominence of printmaking in this corner of Wiltshire\, the gift spans one hundred years of printmaking from 1920 to the present day. The full gift can be seen in the museum’s publication ‘A Century in Print: 1920-2020’\, available from the museum shop. \nChair of the Amenities\, Culture and Leisure Committee\, Cllr Nick Murry said of the exhibition; “The generous Golder – Thompson Gift has helped our museum tell the story of printmaking in this area of Wiltshire and also shows the role the area played in wider artistic stories. We are fortunate that there are so many talented artists\, etchers and printmakers living locally and are privileged to be able to collect and show their work in our local museum” \nTo accompany the exhibition\, there will be a programme of workshops and events. DESCRIPTION:The Chippenham Art Group will meet monthly on Wednesdays in King Alfred Hall\, St Andrew’s Church in Chippenham Market Place. It’s led by artist Fran Young and organised by our experienced community services coordinator Pam Ollis. \nOur art groups are friendly\, relaxing\, therapeutic and fun.  People living with dementia and a family carer create their own art projects under Fran’s guidance with projects ranging from painting and drawing to collage\, printing\, crafts\, clay modelling and more. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection.  No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. People can also work on their own projects and develop their own ideas. \nFamily carers are welcome at the group as full members and encouraged to join in to create their own pieces of art. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this fused glass workshop to make either a 5cm x 20cm sun-catcher\, or a 10cm x 10cm panel which can be framed or hung in a window. \nYou will be supplied with a pre-cut piece of glass of your choice\, plus a selection of coloured glass to complete your project. Once completed your tutor will take your work away and fire it in a kiln\, and you will be able to collect it from the museum on the following Saturday. All tools and materials are supplied. No experience is necessary. The workshop is suitable for anyone over the age of 10 years. \nYour tutor for the session is Pj Buchanan\, the owner and inspiration of SkyDog Glass. Pj’s studio is located in Chippenham\, and she is currently one of the resident artists at The Corsham Gallery in Corsham.
