SUMMARY:Walk Maud Heath's Causeway with Get Wiltshire Walking
DESCRIPTION:The walk is going to be led by the experienced team from Get Wiltshire Walking and there are three different walk lengths. \nEveryone will meet at 9.30am on the corner of Langley Road and Foundry Lane in Chippenham\, where the stone marks the end of Maud Heath’s Causeway. \nThe shortest walk will stop at Langley Burrell Village Hall and return to the start point. This is approximately 3 miles long. \nThe second walk will go all the way to the Moravian Church in East Tytherton and back to Chippenham. This is approximately 7.5 miles long. \nFinally\, the longest walk will go all the way to the start of the causeway at the top of Wick Hill and back into Chippenham. This walk is just shy of 10 miles. \nThere will be tea\, coffee\, cake and toilets at Langley Burrell Village Hall and The Moravian Church in East Tytherton* (*Whilst the Moravian Church does not have a public toilet\, for walkers who are desperate the Minister has said they can use hers). \nPlease make sure you wear appropriate clothing for the weather (we will update you nearer the time) and shoes for walking. SUMMARY:An Avon Ginko
DESCRIPTION:A walking\, watching\, writing\, short poetry experience! \nA “ginko” is a traditional activity in Japan\, and is the term for going on a walk\, in a group\, specifically to write poetry. \nCome and write short poems with us\, on a walk along the Chippenham Avon and its environs. There’ll be plenty of time to stop\, stare\, and take notes along a maximum of 2.5 miles distance. We’ll then sit down outside (under outside cover according to weather) to finish three-line Japanese-style “haiku”\, or other short poems. A hot or cold drink will be included in the ticket price. At all points there will be plenty of one-to-one guidance\, from published poets and experienced tutors Alan Summers and Karen Hoy of Call of the Page. \nSeasons are important in Japanese poetry. We will be leading a summer\, autumn\, winter\, and spring walking writing workshop. You can book for the first one\, a summer ginko\, below. Anticipate dragonflies\, swans\, lily pads\, and willow trees. \nDate: Saturday August 13th 2022\nTime: 10 am to 1 pm \nWe start and end at Chippenham Town Bridge (less than 5 minutes walk from Chippenham station\, and car parks). SUMMARY:FOQC Half term Pumpkin Trail
DESCRIPTION:Friends of Queen Crescent school (FOQC) and Co-op are very excited to be running our second Pumpkin Trail around the local estate this half term. We will be hiding pumpkins around the estate between the 23rd and 30th October.  The theme this year is Video Games and each pumpkin will also contain a letter for an anagram on the same theme. \nWe suggest a minimum donation of £2 per family and the map will be available digitally from the 22nd October either on our FOQC Facebook page or get in contact at our competitions email address. All correct answers emailed to us will go in a draw with the chance to win one of the sweetie hamper prizes kindly donated by Bonnie’s Sweet Shop. \n\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n			\n				\n			\n		\n\nWinners will be drawn at random from all correct entries on 3rd November. Winners will be notified that week and posted on our Facebook page. \nWe really hope you will enjoy this event. Please be considerate of the local community whilst doing the trail. Lots of pumpkins go to landfill every year so FOQC are encouraging all our pumpkin trail volunteers to go eco friendly and use their pumpkins to feed themselves or the wildlife. You may also see alternatives around the trail made of cardboard or papier-mâché.
