DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. Come and enjoy spending time in a calm\, accepting and welcoming environment. \nJoin the sessions in person or online if you’d prefer. \nThe project will run every Thursday from 10.15am-3pm from 20th March to 22nd May. DESCRIPTION:Make 2025 your year of discovery and join our new Treasures from the Archives group. This is an opportunity for you to explore some of the amazing documents in the Wiltshire and Swindon Archive collections in a friendly and informal setting. \nThe group meets every other month on a Saturday\, led by Community History Advisor Gianna Torchia. Each hour-long session will focus on an original document that will be explored and discussed to reveal the creative side of archives through the stories of people\, places or events. Gianna hopes to inspire members to get creative using information from the original documents. DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. Come and enjoy spending time in a calm\, accepting and welcoming environment. \nJoin the sessions in person or online if you’d prefer. \nThe project will run every Thursday from 10.15am-3pm from 20th March to 22nd May. Since then our seven cafés have developed into much-valued social and information-gathering occasions where people can strike up friendships\, chat informally to professionals\, find out more about dementia and support from a wide range of speakers\, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. \nChippenham Memory café meets fortnightly for activities\, chat\, and a chance to catch up informally with dementia professionals. SUMMARY:ESOL for Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:This welcoming and supportive course is specially designed for ESOL learners who want to take their English communication skills to the next level\, while exploring important themes around health and wellbeing. \nFollowing on from our ESOL Beginners course\, ESOL for Wellbeing is ideal for learners who already have a good grasp of English—those who can express themselves\, take part in conversations\, and understand most of what’s being said. This course offers the perfect opportunity to build confidence\, improve fluency\, and develop stronger communication across listening\, speaking\, reading\, and writing. \nAs part of the course\, learners will also get the chance to explore their local area\, helping to build not just language skills but community connections and local knowledge. \nWelcome Meeting\nAll new learners must attend our welcome meeting on Thursday 29 May at 12.30pm.
