DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. Come and enjoy spending time in a calm\, accepting and welcoming environment. \nJoin the sessions in person or online if you’d prefer. \nThe project will run every Thursday from 10.15am-3pm from 20th March to 22nd May. DESCRIPTION:Our first café opened in 2009 as a meeting place for people with dementia and their families\, at a time when there were few opportunities to socialise with others affected. Since then our seven cafés have developed into much-valued social and information-gathering occasions where people can strike up friendships\, chat informally to professionals\, find out more about dementia and support from a wide range of speakers\, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment. \nChippenham Memory café meets fortnightly for activities\, chat\, and a chance to catch up informally with dementia professionals.
