SUMMARY:Spotlight On: Modern & Contemporary Art from the Collection of Chippenham Museum
DESCRIPTION:The second part of Chippenham Museum’s exhibition series celebrating North Wiltshire’s creativity\, Spotlight On features 40 works by local artists. Open Monday to Saturday with free entry\, visitors can drop-in 10am to 1pm or book a free timed ticket at 1pm\, 2pm or 3pm to enjoy sole use of the museum. \nThe collection has been acquired by the museum in the past five years to ensure our collection better represents the amazing artistic talent found in this area. The exhibition includes paintings\, sculpture\, ceramics and photography; almost all of which are on display for the first time and have been donated to the museum by the artists. \nVisitors to John Coles Park and Monkton Park can spot ten images of the exhibition’s artworks on trees with trail Art Outdoors\, sponsored by The Kington Langley Arts Society. Costumes are welcome\, as are any photos you wish to share to reminisce of your seventies experience… even if they’re baby photos or fancy dress. \nAllsorts choir is for all sorts of people. We have fun singing and have enjoyed keeping ourselves entertained online each week\, but have missed performing\, so Marius came up with the idea to open up a session for friends and family\, and friends of those friends and family\, to join us for an occasional themed evening and as the previous two events were such a success\, we figured another would be just as groovy man! \nDon’t forget to share\, share\, share\, and join us for this love-in. DESCRIPTION:Rotary Rovers Return – The return of the native classic car run! \nBetween 8am and 9.30am on Sunday 23rd May one hundred Classic Cars will meet and drive off from Calne Leisure Centre Car park. The Calne Lions will provide breakfast butties as drivers set off on a fascinating 70 mile run through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. \nThere is to be an interesting stop at Middlewick House with the drive finishing at Casterley Barn near Pewsey.  Further support on the day will be provided by Rotarians and a great team of volunteers\, the event will be a true community effort. \nThe car run features VIP Teddy Bears and much loved dogs in some of the cars. Half the proceeds will go to The Bobby Van Trust and the remainder to Rotary charities.  The Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust is a local charity specialising in providing home security improvements\, fire protection equipment and advice to victims of crime\, the elderly and disadvantaged. \nFor the first time the event is being hosted by The Chippenham Rotary Club. Do you want to spend a day of relaxing and connective activities that nourish your soul? \nIf so\, then come along and join in one of our 4 Woodland Wellbeing Retreat Days\, starting on 26th June 2021. Other dates are 24th July\, 14th August and 25th September 2021. \nThese events provide a wonderful opportunity for people to have some time away for themselves\, connecting with nature\, with themselves and with like-minded people. The days comprise of a mix of meditations\, mindfulness practices\, shamanic journeying\, chakra balancing and energy alignment\, sound therapy and healing plus more. At the end of the day people will feel relaxed\, recharged and replenished. The groups are being facilitated by two qualified and professional therapists: Dawn is a psychotherapeutic counsellor and Sara is an intuitive healer. \nThe mornings will be held in the Hayloft\, followed by lunch and “me & just being time” before heading up to the private woodland for the afternoon. The venue is Highway Hill\, just outside of Calne\, Wiltshire which is set in 100 acres of private woodland in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

DESCRIPTION:Our Try Climbing fun day is a perfect opportunity to have a go at rock climbing\, play games\, find out about climbing and meet the team behind Chippenham’s new activity centre. \nEvent details \n\n9.30am – 4.00pm on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd August 2021* at Westmead Playing Field\, off Westmead Lane\, Chippenham\, SN15 3HZ\nMeet staff from The Climbing Academy who will be running The Arc. They will be on hand to provide information about climbing and their other centres\, share special offers and to play games with attendees.\nStaff and trustees from Chippenham Borough Lands Charity will be able to provide you with further information about the Westmead Activity Centre\, the ‘Borough Lands’ and our grant giving to Chippenham residents.\nGet a taste of this exhilarating lifetime sport on a mobile self-belaying climbing wall provided by Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team (WOLT).\nOpen to over 5-year olds and suitable for all ages (please note to fit the harnesses you need to be under 18 stone).\n£1 to climb each wall with 4 walls to climb in total.\nThe walls can have 4 people climbing at any one time and use automatic belays. The auto belay system ensures each climber descends steadily and safely at all times.\nThere are different climbing challenges across the 4 climbing routes making it perfect for complete beginners to experienced climbers. The WOLT team will be available to provide support and assistance to every climber.\nNo pre-booking required.\nWhile climbing the Mobile Climbing Wall we recommend wearing casual clothes and sensible shoes.\nLight refreshments will be on offer from Just on the Hoof\, including barista coffee\, milkshakes and homemade cake.\n\n \n*Please note – If it looks like there will be heavy rain or strong winds over the few days from the 20th-22nd August the event will be postponed. Francis Kilvert with two of his three remaining diaries on display\, on loan from the National Library of Wales. \nUsing the exhibition for inspiration\, Ruth will guide you to create your own writing. Each week will have a different focus\, with writing exercises\, explorations of language\, structure and form\, and peer discussion\, you will have the opportunity to write in a style which suits you. DESCRIPTION:From 10 to 19 September\, the free trail ‘Kilvert’s Langley Burrell’ encourages you to explore this scenic village on the outskirts of Chippenham through the eyes of Victorian diarist Rev. Francis Kilvert. Through Kilvert’s diary entries\, step back to the 1870s as you retrace his steps. \nInformation boards will guide you through the village\, with an audio guide available to download from the museum’s website featuring excerpts from the diary read by Chair of the Kilvert Society Alan Brimson. As internet signal cannot be guaranteed\, its recommended todownload the audio guide before visiting. \nLangley Burrell is a pleasant walk or cycle ride from the centre of Chippenham. Please be considerate of residents and other road users if parking in the village or nearby. \nExhibition Kilvert’s World is open at Chippenham Museum until Saturday 9 October with free entry. The museum is open Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm\, with a special late opening until 7pm on Thursday 9 September and 7 October.
