DESCRIPTION:An exhibition celebrating the heritage of Chippenham Station\, 180 years on from the station’s opening in 1841. \nEnjoy a journey through the station’s history from Victorian times to the present day. Taking place in the medieval timber framed Yelde Hall\, the exhibition is also a good opportunity to step inside one of Chippenham’s most historic buildings. \nThis exhibition has been created in partnership between the Friends of Chippenham Station and Chippenham Museum. \nThe Friends of Chippenham Station are a voluntary group seeking to promote and improve the experience of everyone using the station whether they be commuters\, shoppers or visitors. The group officially adopted Chippenham Station in 2019 through the Association of Community Rail Partnerships.

SUMMARY:Chippenham Folk Festival - John Kirkpatrick Concert
DESCRIPTION:A special concert featuring the Patron of Chippenham Folk Festival – John Kirkpatrick. \nJohn has been patron of the Chippenham Folk Festival since 2019 and is a distinguished folk musician and morris dancer. Apart from being a brilliant Musician and a great teacher he is a thoroughly nice bloke. John has contributed music\, song\, and dance to a great number of plays in the theatre\, and to a lesser extent radio\, television\, and film. As a virtuoso session player\, his squeezeboxes can be heard on hundreds of recordings and as a creator of new work in all these fields he has established an enviable reputation. But on his own live gigs you’re more likely to see him in his natural habitat pursuing his first love – traditional English music and song. \nNo stranger to success he has quite a few accolades to his name. In 2002 John was made an honorary lifetime member of the International Concertina Association. A year later he was awarded the @EFDSS Gold Badge for his outstanding contribution to English Folk Music. In 2010 he was named Musician of the Year at the @BBCR2 Folk Awards. Most recently John was appointed an MBE in the 2021 New Year’s Honours List.

DESCRIPTION:“The Festival of Christmas” is a series of events in Chippenham celebrating all things festive running from Sunday 28th November until Sunday 19th December. \nThe launch day takes place on Sunday 28 November\, when Chippenham Town Centre will be full of fun and free entertainment between 10am – 7pm\, bringing the community together safely to enjoy a range of activities including: \nLantern Making Workshops and Glitter-Glo Face Paintingat the Town Hall\, 11am-4pm \nFire Performers in the Market Place\, at intervals between 4pm-6pm \nFestive Stilt-walkers on the High Street\, at intervals between 10am-4pm \nSnow Globe Photo Experience in Borough Parade\, 9am-6pm \nMeet Santa at the Yelde Hall\, 10am-6pm (SOLD OUT) \nIn addition to the events above\, the High Street will host a festive Artisan Market between 10am-7pm. There will be over 30 stalls to visit and enjoy across the day including artisan cider\, mulled wine\, and roasted chestnuts as well as\, handmade gifts\, and baked goods. \nA small community stage will also feature in Market Place where the Christmas Tree can be found. The stage will feature a variety of local acts between 11am – 6pm including Corsham and Colerne Military Wives Choir\, Chippenham’s Dancing Academy\, Ministry of Samba\, Rock Choir: Trowbridge\, Frome\, Warminster/Westbury and Chippenham\, CLOGG’s Musical Theatre. \nThe Christmas lights will be switched on at  5pm however\, to reduce the risk of mass gathering there won’t be an official countdown\, or switch on this year. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a spectacular wintery light trail around the ‘River Island’ in Chippenham\, just as you walk over Town Bridge. \nSee the trees and riverbank illuminated as never seen before\, including a Floating Iceberg Pontoon\, Enchanted Talking Trees and Northern Lights Dome. \nProduced by Melt Productions in collaboration with Chippenham Town Council\, the light trail is free and accessible for all. \nA variety of food vendors including pizza\, cakes and festive drinks will be dotted around the Trail. \nThe trail is all outdoors. Wrap up warm and please wear sturdy\, waterproof footwear. \nDuring busy times\, you may be asked to wait whilst the events staff manage the flow of people. All attendees are kindly requested to do their best to maintain social distancing. \nPlease note\, there is no parking on site\, however if you are driving from a distance\, parking in Emery Gate Car Park is recommended.

DESCRIPTION:The ‘Wiltshire on Paper: Post-War Prints from the Bath Academy of Art’ exhibition is a celebration of post-war printmaking from a unique time in Wiltshire’s creative history. \nOn display in Chippenham for the first time\, the exhibition features recent additions to Chippenham Museum’s art collection from the Golder-Thompson Gift. Visitors can enjoy works by nationally recognised artists including Howard Hodgkin\, Clifford & Rosemary Ellis and Anish Kapoor. An exhibition catalogue is soon to be available from the museum and online shop\, supported by the Arts Society (Kington Langley). \n\n8th January – 2nd April\, 2022 (excluding Sundays)\n10am-4pm daily Monday to Saturday\n7pm at special Museum Lates openings once a month. Thursday evenings: 13 January\, 3 February and 3 March.
