SUMMARY:Lady Chatterley’s Cover: The Book Designs of Stephen Russ
DESCRIPTION:The post-war book designs of artist and teacher\, Stephen Russ\, are coming to life at Chippenham Museum. \nFrom the forties to the seventies\, Russ produced dozens of dust jackets\, from striking first editions of Graham Greene at Bodley Head to a wide range of titles at Collins\, including nature books and the famous Collins Crime Club. \nHe is perhaps best known for his work with Penguin\, designing covers for the main orange series\, the lesser-known music scores\, and the highly collectible Penguin Poets series. His phoenix motif for DH Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover became famous during the 1960 obscenity trial and featured in the marketing that helped make the book a bestseller. \nThe exhibition also celebrates Russ’s thirty-year career as a tutor at the renowned Bath Academy of Art in Corsham\, brought together with the generous support of the Russ family and loans from the Penguin Archive and the University of Bristol.

SUMMARY:Chippenham Film Club March 2026 Screening: Vermiglio (15)
DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Film Club was formed to bring films to the town that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. Screenings are typically held every month on the second Tuesday at The Reel Cinema – anyone can attend but members get discounted tickets. \nThis month we have ‘Vermiglio’ (also known as ‘The Mountain Bride’) which is a 2024 wartime drama set in a remote Alpine village. The film has an age rating of 15. As the momentous events of the Second World War draw to a close\, and life returns to normal\, the arrival of a Sicilian deserter unsettles the isolated Alpine community’s quiet equilibrium\, and unsettles a schoolteacher’s family\, particularly his eldest daughter. \nDirected by Maura Delpero\, and starring Tommaso Ragno (‘Happy as Lazzaro’\, ‘Nostalgia’)\, ‘Vermiglio’ collected a slew of awards and nominations\, including the Venice International Film Festival where Delpero won the Silver Lion\, and Sorriso Diverso (best Italian film)\, with Martina Scrinzi winning the Nuovoimae Talent Award for best new young actress.

SUMMARY:Talk Club Chippenham - mental health fitness for men aged 18+
DESCRIPTION:How are you? Out of 10?\nThis meet up is a talking and listen club for men aged 18 and over.\nThis group meets the 2nd Monday of each month – upstairs at The Waverley. \nWhat’s it about?\nA Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains.\nCaptains are trained to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. \nThese groups are held in person in a safe and quiet space so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel\, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why. \nDepending on the number of men attending\, sessions last a maximum of two hours.

DESCRIPTION:Sparkly Singers is the award-winning Wiltshire-based choir experience\, founded with the simple aim of bringing the joy and benefits of group singing to everyone\, regardless of age\, experience or ability.\nRather than splitting into parts and learning harmonies\, we prefer instead to sing in unison\, infusing songs with our own rather unique mix of humour\, movement and the occasional wacky prop.\nAlongside our sessions in Chippenham (Monday lunchtimes) and Royal Wootton Bassett (Tuesday evenings)\, the Sparkly Singers meet every Thursday evening from 8:00pm at the Lansdowne Hall in Derry Hill.\nSo if you simply love to sing\, but have yet to find the choir that perfectly complements your sense of fun\, why not enquire about one of our FREE taster sessions and come and see what we’re all about.

SUMMARY:The Bohemians: Queen Greatest Hits
DESCRIPTION:Don’t Stop us Now – and there’s certainly no stopping this comprehensive re-enactment of Queen’s greatest hits! \nOne of the UK’s longest running and Internationally renowned Queen Tribute bands\, The Bohemians\, take you on a high-energy rollercoaster ride of a concert\, featuring the music\, costumes\, and showmanship of one of the world’s most popular and iconic rock acts of all time. Billed as ‘The World’s most exciting Queen Tribute’\, the Bohemians start proceedings as they mean to continue. \nRight from the beginning you will be gripped by a bombastic\, authentic audio-visual representation of Queen’s iconic Wembley 1986 performance\, as the Bohemians burst onto the stage to the strains of ‘One Vision’ and ‘A Kind of Magic’. There are so many fabulous hits to be covered but they’re all here\, from the early piano and harmony heavy wonders of ‘Killer Queen’ and ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’\, to the later\, catchy pop anthems of the eighties. The second hour concentrates on the later hits\, and once again there is an array of brilliance to embrace. \nThe stunning ‘Breakthru’ provides both the introduction and the costume presentation for this part of the set\, which includes a new feature of the Bohemians stage show – a slick rendering of classics from the late eighties and early nineties era. ‘I Want It All’\, ‘The Show Must Go On’ and the haunting ‘Days of our Lives’ are just some of those featured. The set then pays tribute to the sights and sounds of the famous Live Aid performance and of course the awesome ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Then it’s back to Wembley 1986 for a spectacular finale\, when the Bohemians will have you on your feet\, singing\, dancing and clapping along to the likes of ‘Radio Ga Ga’\, ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘We Are the Champions’. \nTickets: Standard £27 | Concession (Over 60s and students) £24.50 \nDuration: 2 hours 10 minutes \nPlease contact the venue for any access requirements. \nTickets are also available through our Box Office on 01249 446699\, from the Neeld Box Office or at the Town Hall. \nTickets are non-refundable unless this event is cancelled or postponed.

The Jane Austen Fan Club is coming to Chippenham Library! \nCharlotte and Ellie are best friends and Jane Austen superfans. Tonight’s a special meeting of the Jane Austen Fan Club – and everyone’s invited! Alongside the usual books\, bonnets and biscuits\, you can expect comedy\, chaos and a lifesize cardboard Colin Firth. \nWith real life inconveniently intruding on the meeting\, Charlotte and Ellie are faced with the question: in 250 years\, how much have things really changed? \nHilarious and heartfelt\, The Jane Austen Fan Club promises high drama\, breathless romance and dancing of the highest quality*. \n*Accurate at time of publishing – please note dancing may not be that high quality. \nAll performances are relaxed\, baby-friendly and dementia-friendly. \n\nBooking essential.\nCall in at the library or phone on 01249 650536.\nCash payment if paying in person\, or pay online via Ticket Source: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/booking/select/nlrpmpyrgjzw\nPlaces limited. £8 per ticket.
