SUMMARY:Dementia Café at Cepen Lodge Care Home
DESCRIPTION:Cepen Lodge care home\, in Chippenham have invited members of the local community to their monthly dementia café. \nThe first session starting on the 31st May 2024 will be hosted in conjunction with Chippenham Police\, who will be joining to discuss the Herbert Protocol and offer dementia wristbands to the community to support those who may leave their homes and get lost. \nTaking place on the last Friday of every month at 11am\, guests will have a chance to meet other carers supporting others living with dementia. Free to all\, the dementia café at the home provides small respite and social support. \nDuring the care group session\, guests will also have a chance to meet the team at the home\, to discuss any questions they might have about care. \nSenior General Manager Jade said: “We’re really looking forward to making more friends in our local community. The condition itself can be quite lonely and frightening\, and the more support we can provide to each other\, the better. If anyone is unable to make it on the day but would like to pop in for a tour and a cup of tea\, our doors are always open.” \nCepen Lodge care home is run by Barchester Healthcare\, one of the UK’s largest care providers\, which is committed to delivering high-quality care across its care homes and hospitals. Cepen Lodge provides residential care and dementia care for 63 residents from respite care to long term stays. \n

SUMMARY:Chippenham Harriers River & Fun Runs
DESCRIPTION:A family friendly\, summer evening 5k race and 2k fun run\, held each year in early July in Monkton Park. This year it’s Wednesday the 3rd July. \nThere are two routes to choose from\, namely a full 5k route and a shorter 2k route (fun run). \nThe 5k River Run and 2k Fun Run follow a largely traffic free multi-terrain route along the banks of the River Avon\, starting and finishing in Monkton Park\, near the Olympiad Leisure Centre. There is a mixture of compacted field/grass\, gravel and paved road/path. \nThe River Run is a great community event which attracts people of all abilities and ages. The 5k distance means that it is ideal for the beginners and the inclusion of the Fun Run makes it the perfect summer evening event for families. The 5k is open to anyone aged 13 and over and the Fun Run is for 4 – 14 year olds. \nPrizes in age categories for both races. All Fun Run finishers receive a medal. \nTypical start times are Fun Run at 6:30pm and River Run at 7.30pm. Registration is normally 60 minutes prior to the first race (5:30pm). \nRace start is at Olympiad Leisure Centre\, Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, SN15 3PA
