DESCRIPTION:Come to our FREE Home Energy Advice Drop in session\, Thursday 30th October\, 10am to 2-30pm\, at Chippenham Library. \nAs part of Libraries Week 2025 and the theme “Seeds of Change: Make a Difference with Your Library”\, Zero Chippenham Volunteers Matthew (Home Energy) and Chris (Thermal Cameras) will be offering free advice on How to keep your home warm and save money this winter. \nChris will be demonstrating one of Zero Chippenham’s thermal cameras\, which you can borrow for FREE from Zero Chippenham*\, or borrow one from Wiltshire libraries own scheme. Chris is taking heat view training later this month and can advise how to make the best use of the cameras to see where your home is losing heat and money. \nMatthew can provide FREE home energy advice\, and has recently completed Retrofit advisor training**. We will have a number of simple home insulation measures on display that you can try yourself\, as well as advice sheets\, and information on the latest Home Energy grants. \nMatthew and Chris look forward to seeing you on Thursday 30th October 2025 at Chippenham library.

DESCRIPTION:Calling all performers aged 13 and up (including adults) \nA NEW performance company for young people and adults. \nWe spent time in June 2025 exploring ideas and working together to see what sort of work we all wanted to create and this will now be followed by a 9 week rehearsal period from Saturday 27th September\, followed by an intensive rehearsal period in January 2026 finishing a performance on Feb 7th 2026 (Venue – TBC – as we’ll come up with that together). \nWhether you’re a seasoned actor or just starting out\, why not showcase your talent and connect with like-minded locals? It may be that you prefer to be backstage or help with the design and production. DESCRIPTION:Make 2025 your year of discovery and join our new Treasures from the Archives group. This is an opportunity for you to explore some of the amazing documents in the Wiltshire and Swindon Archive collections in a friendly and informal setting. \nThe group meets every other month on a Saturday\, led by Community History Advisor Gianna Torchia. Each hour-long session will focus on an original document that will be explored and discussed to reveal the creative side of archives through the stories of people\, places or events. Gianna hopes to inspire members to get creative using information from the original documents. An information pack\, including transcriptions and reading lists\, will be available at the end of each session. \nEach session has a different theme which will provide you with an opportunity to explore not only the original documents\, but also to look at recreations made by Gianna especially for the session\, such as knitting from historic patterns and tasting products made using original recipes. \nTreasures from the Archives is the ideal introduction to exploring Wiltshire’s history and expanding your understanding and knowledge of the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre’s collections. \nThe sessions are free and will run every other month on a Saturday from 11:00 to 12:00. \nFor more information contact archives@wiltshire.gov.uk or tel 01249 705500

DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with a pop-up café from 10.30 where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nThis month’s music is inspired by the traditional travelling people of Eastern Europe\, with pieces including ‘Songs My Mother Taught Me’ by Dvořák\, Haydn’s Gypsy Rondo\, and various Dumkas and other dances. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection. DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.
