SUMMARY:Climate Cake and Keeping Warm
DESCRIPTION:Each winter Wiltshire Wildlife Community Energy runs its programme of ‘Keeping Warm This Winter’ – friendly\, pop-up ‘Energy Advice Cafes’ hosted at community gatherings in venues throughout Swindon and Wiltshire to reach residents struggling with energy costs. \nAt the cafe people can get advice\, tips and have their questions answered about heating and energy at home and see examples of simple\, effective but cheap energy-saving measures they can use.  There’s information to take away and useful free giveaways. \nPeople coming along can also be signposted to further support such as Warm and Safe Wiltshire\, to check eligibility for grants and help with energy bills and energy efficiency measures at home. Church Wardens can also gain support and network with others on their Eco Church journey\, so why not join us for a slice of cake and a warm drink at St Andrews Church\, Market Place\, Chippenham\, SN15 3HT. \nThe event is co-hosted by Eco Church Bristol Diocese – www.bristol.anglican.com and Wiltshire Wildlife Community Energy \nRSVP – belinda.martin@bristoldiocese.org

SUMMARY:Creative Writing Workshops: 16-18 Year Olds
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the birth of local antiquarian and famous biographer\, John Aubrey. Open to young people aged 16-18\, these free workshops offer the chance to develop your writing skills and see your work in print. \nAubrey was an archaeologist\, scientist\, and historian who\, from a young age\, collected stories and local legends from people across Wiltshire. He used these to create a series of mini-biographies collectively known as Brief Lives. \nInspired by Aubrey’s work\, participants will use the museum’s collection of portraits\, taken by local photographers in the 1900s\, as creative prompts to write their own ‘brief life’ for these anonymous figures. \nAn experienced writer will lead the workshops\, helping young people develop their skills and explore new writing forms and genres\, including: \nPoetry and lyric writing\nDramatic monologues and short scripts\nShort stories and flash fiction\nThe project is supported by the Friends of Chippenham Museum and will conclude with a special celebration of the work produced\, including a printed publication. \nThese workshops are free\, but spaces are limited\, so booking is essential. Please contact the museum to reserve your place. \n  \nFind out more about the Chippenham – Our History project on this website here.

SUMMARY:Chippenham Film Club January 2026 Screening: 'The Marching Band' (15)
DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Film Club is run by a small group of local volunteers and was formed to bring films to the town that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. It aims to show films\, chosen by members\, screened at The Reel Cinema on the second Monday each month. You do not need to be a member to attend the screenings\, but an annual membership fee gives you a 35% discount off the price of entry to each Film Club screening. \nThe first film of 2026 is ‘The Marching Band’ (Age Rating:15) and will be shown on January 12th at 7.30pm. The film is a French bitter sweet comedy drama (‘En Fanfare’) which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. \nIt tells the story of an internationally renowned orchestra conductor who is diagnosed with leukaemia and discovers he is adopted from a DNA test to find a potential bone marrow donor. From this revelation\, he meets his younger biological brother who plays trombone in a small local marching band. He takes on the role of conductor of the band and the brothers learn more about the circumstances that shaped each other’s lives.

SUMMARY:Talk Club Chippenham - mental health fitness for men aged 18+
DESCRIPTION:How are you? Out of 10?\nThis meet up is a talking and listen club for men aged 18 and over.\nThis group meets the 2nd Monday of each month – upstairs at The Waverley. \nWhat’s it about?\nA Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains.\nCaptains are trained to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. \nThese groups are held in person in a safe and quiet space so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel\, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why. \nDepending on the number of men attending\, sessions last a maximum of two hours.
