SUMMARY:An Avon Ginko
DESCRIPTION:A walking\, watching\, writing\, short poetry experience! \nA “ginko” is a traditional activity in Japan\, and is the term for going on a walk\, in a group\, specifically to write poetry. \nCome and write short poems with us\, on a walk along the Chippenham Avon and its environs. There’ll be plenty of time to stop\, stare\, and take notes along a maximum of 2.5 miles distance. We’ll then sit down outside (under outside cover according to weather) to finish three-line Japanese-style “haiku”\, or other short poems. A hot or cold drink will be included in the ticket price. At all points there will be plenty of one-to-one guidance\, from published poets and experienced tutors Alan Summers and Karen Hoy of Call of the Page. \nSeasons are important in Japanese poetry. We will be leading a summer\, autumn\, winter\, and spring walking writing workshop. You can book for the first one\, a summer ginko\, below. Anticipate dragonflies\, swans\, lily pads\, and willow trees. \nDate: Saturday August 13th 2022\nTime: 10 am to 1 pm \nWe start and end at Chippenham Town Bridge (less than 5 minutes walk from Chippenham station\, and car parks). The bridge postcode is SN15 1EX. \nMaximum group size: 10\nTickets: £38 full price\, including a hot or cold drink. An early bird rate of £34 applies until Sunday 7th August 2022. \nBursaries: We have a free bursary place and a half-price place on each ginko. Please contact us for details of qualifying for these. DESCRIPTION:Dogman is the story of Marcello (played by Marcello Fonte)\, a timid dog groomer who moonlights as a drug dealer\, and his encounters with Simoncino\, a violent gangster. When Simocino frames Marcello in a crime\, Marcello begins to plot his revenge. \nDogman enjoyed some 40 nominations and 32 industry awards\, most notably Marcello Fonte\, who won the Palme d’ Or for best actor\, the canine cast also picked up the Palm Dog\, I’m not joking\, they really did. \nThe film will be shown at The Reel on Monday 12th September\, tickets are available through the Chippenham Film Club’s website.\n.

We use science to better understand the environmental challenges we face\, and to find solutions to these issues. DESCRIPTION:As part of Heritage Open Days you can book a free guided tour of The Arc\, Chippenham’s most striking new building. \nDesigned by Chippenham Architect Rob Elkins (Artel 31) for Chippenham Borough Lands Charity\, The Arc climbing centre is one of Chippenham’s newest and most striking structures. It is one of the first climbing centres in the UK to be entirely purpose-built. Most are established in existing warehouses or churches. \n \nThis is your chance to find out what goes on behind the peaks of the impressive north and south blocks. You will learn interesting details about the building including how it has been future-proofed to withstand being built on a flood plain! The centre is operated by The Climbing Academy on behalf of CBLC. You will have the chance to meet TCA staff and ask questions about how the centre works. \n \nIn addition to the main buildings\, The Arc features an impressive wooden cafe decking that affords views of the rare outside climbing wall\, a state-of-the-art skatepark (designed by CANVAS) and Westmead Playing Fields. The tour will include inside and outside locations\, so come prepared for both. \nThe building is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
