DESCRIPTION:Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests – you play Hockey while walking – and is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the sport\, but still enjoy participating\, showing their skills and being involved in the team and social aspect of the sport. \nThe game is played on a smaller pitch with lighter balls and rules adapted for safety and accessibility. \nWe operate a weekly social mixed game at 6pm on Monday evenings all year round. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome. There’s always laughter and quite often the chance for a social drink afterwards if you feel like it!

DESCRIPTION:Join the Chippenham Museum Creative Writing Group for a series of linked workshops celebrating the 400th anniversary of the birth of local antiquarian and famous biographer\, John Aubrey. The workshops will be led by Lesley Taylor\, an experienced facilitator\, and will draw inspiration from Aubrey’s work and the museum’s summer exhibition. \nBorn in Kington St Michael in 1626\, Aubrey was a biographer\, archaeologist\, scientist\, naturalist\, and oral historian. He valued the minutiae of everyday life\, and his writing is rich with specific (and often witty) details that bring the past to life. \nDrawing on his most well-known work\, Brief Lives – written portraits of key figures of his day – the workshops will explore how to write with greater detail. Sessions will provide an opportunity to develop the skill of telling your own stories with clarity\, experimenting with a range of forms including flash fiction\, memoir\, poetry\, and creative non-fiction. \nSuitable for beginners and experienced writers alike\, this series of monthly workshops will culminate in An Evening with Aubrey at the museum\, where participants’ work will be shared and celebrated. The date for this celebratory event is to be confirmed. \nEach session costs £5 per person. Spaces are limited\, so booking is essential. We work at a leisurely pace with plenty of time for conversation and connection. No previous experience of art is necessary and everyone works at their own pace. You’ll explore the vibrant shapes\, textures\, and hues of seasonal fruits\, learning how to bring them to life on paper in a fresh\, expressive way. \nWe’ll cover approachable watercolour techniques for painting juicy berries\, citrus\, stone fruits\, and more\, with guidance on colour mixing\, light\, and shadow to help your paintings feel bright and full of energy. There’ll be pieces of fruit and reference images on the table for inspiration\, and you can choose to paint a single piece of fruit\, a small group\, or try painting a few different fruits – the choice is yours! \nThis session is beginner-friendly and low-pressure\, with an emphasis on enjoyment and experimentation rather than technical perfection. DESCRIPTION:Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests – you play Hockey while walking – and is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the sport\, but still enjoy participating\, showing their skills and being involved in the team and social aspect of the sport. \nThe game is played on a smaller pitch with lighter balls and rules adapted for safety and accessibility. \nWe operate a weekly social mixed game at 6pm on Monday evenings all year round. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome. There’s always laughter and quite often the chance for a social drink afterwards if you feel like it!
