DESCRIPTION:The ‘Wiltshire on Paper: Post-War Prints from the Bath Academy of Art’ exhibition is a celebration of post-war printmaking from a unique time in Wiltshire’s creative history. \nOn display in Chippenham for the first time\, the exhibition features recent additions to Chippenham Museum’s art collection from the Golder-Thompson Gift. Visitors can enjoy works by nationally recognised artists including Howard Hodgkin\, Clifford & Rosemary Ellis and Anish Kapoor. An exhibition catalogue is soon to be available from the museum and online shop\, supported by the Arts Society (Kington Langley). \n\n8th January – 2nd April\, 2022 (excluding Sundays)\n10am-4pm daily Monday to Saturday\n7pm at special Museum Lates openings once a month. Thursday evenings: 13 January\, 3 February and 3 March.

DESCRIPTION:Take The Stage is back for 2022! Starting in January\, the competition will see 12 young acts compete across four heats for a place in the final with the chance to play for some great prizes. So long as you are under 21 years of age\, you can apply to play at Take The Stage! \nDuring each heat\, every act will have their full 20 minute set recorded plus one song professionally filmed and edited. They will then receive a free mixed version of their performance as well as one live video shot and edited by our crew. \nThe winner of each heat is decided by a crowd vote\, with the prizes in the final to be decided by representative judges. In the final\, we ask representatives from each prize on offer to pick the band they think most suits their prize.\nThis means that there could be several prize winners in the final. \nWe do all we can to remain impartial throughout\, and as such do not include ourselves on the judging panel as we often get to know the bands personally as the competition goes on. \nPrizes so far include:\nFree recording time\, festival slots\, plus support-slot opportunities. DESCRIPTION:Having sold out their last visit\, legends of Irish music & song The Fureys\, renowned for their hit songs ‘I will love you’\, ‘When you were sweet 16’ and ‘The Green Fields of France’ return on Sunday 27th February 2022. \nThe Fureys have been entertaining audiences worldwide for 44 years\, audiences that have included former Australian Prime Minister John Howard\, Former Irish President Mary McAleese and the late Pope John Paul. Tony Blair has publicly stated his favourite peace song of all time is the Fureys “Green Fields of France” and President Michael D Higgins attended their last concert in National Concert Hall. \nThe oldest of the brothers\, Eddie Furey left home in 1966 and travelled to Scotland at the time of the great folk revival where he shared accommodation with then unknown folk singers Billy Connolly\, Gerry Rafferty and Alex Campbell. In 1969 with his brother Finbar\, he was the special guest for the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem throughout the USA and Canada. In 1971 he moved to mainland Europe where he toured for seven years. Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics has credited Eddie with teaching him his first chords on guitar when they met up in the North East of England while Dave was still a teenager. \nStandard ticket: £23.75 \nThis is a seated event. DESCRIPTION:Andy Fairweather Low’s pedigree is the stuff rock dreams are made of. He first came to prominence at the vanguard of the new youthful expression of music as the lead singer in Amen Corner. The 60s saw them clock up hit after pop hit. Songs such as ‘Bend Me Shape Me’\, ‘Hello Suzy’\, ‘(If Paradise is) Half As Nice’ are internationally remembered to this day. \nSince the early days Andy has gone on to work with Eric Clapton\, George Harrison\, Bob Dylan\, Jimi Hendrix\, David Crosby\, The Band\, Elton John\, Roger Waters\, Richard and Linda Thompson\, Dave Gilmour\, The Who\, BB King\, Joe Cocker … and hundreds more. \nNow following a solo path\, his first solo album in 24 years Sweet Soulful Music was released late in 2007 followed by The Very Best of Andy Fairweather Low which was released in the UK in June 2008 and the Live DVD followed hot on its heels. \nFollowing an acclaimed UK Tour in Autumn 2012 Andy completed a third tour with The Low Riders in Germany. DESCRIPTION:A textile art installation capturing the international collective experience of the pandemic. Visiting Chippenham Museum on a tour of the UK\, The Covid Chronicle features work by 70 textile artists across the world including from the Chippenham community. \nThe Covid Chronicle is a textile patchwork project to record and commemorate our individual and collective experience of living with Covid. The resulting giant artwork – a kind of Bayeux Tapestry – captures this moment in our history. \nChippenham Museum is free to visit\, open 10am – 4pm Monday – Saturday including Bank Holidays. \nLate opening until 7pm on Thursday 14 April and Thursday 5 May.

SUMMARY:The Arc Jam
DESCRIPTION:The Arc Jam is a chance to celebrate the official opening of The Arc\, a brand-new climbing centre\, skatepark and cafe facility in Chippenham. \nThe Arc Jam will include: – \n\ndemonstrations by professional skateboarders\nskatepark competitions with prizes\nphotos and video opportunities on the day to show off your skills in the bowl\nclimbing demonstrations on the outside wall\n\nCanvas \nThe skatepark was designed and built by Bristol Skatepark design specialists\, CANVAS\, who will be hosting the range of activities around the skatepark on the 9th. The skatepark competitions will be split up into different categories depending on those in attendance on the day. These will be carried out in an ‘informal jam format’ to ensure that the day is inclusive to all ages and abilities. Prizes awarded to those e.g. who are doing impressive tricks\, having the most fun\, showing the most progression etc. \nClimbing demonstrations \nThere will also be climbing demonstrations from a wide range of climbers on the outside wall from 12-3pm but the climbing centre and café will be open as normal. \nEverest climber – Kenton Cool \nLegendary British climber\, Kenton Cool\, will also be attending the launch event. In May this year he is attempting to summit Everest for a record-breaking 16th attempt. He was the first man to climb Nuptse\, Everest and Lhotse in a climbing season.  A great opportunity to see and meet one of Britain’s most high-profile and celebrated climbers. \n\nThe Arc was built by Chippenham Borough Lands Charity (CBLC) and is being run by The Climbing Academy (TCA). This brand new purpose-built centre offers bouldering\, roped climbing\, a cafe and the free skatepark overlooking Westmead playing field. \nThe Arc \nThe Arc is a safe and supportive space for families\, individuals and youth or community groups. You can start bouldering anytime without doing a course\, but the centre offers taster sessions and beginners roped courses for newcomers\, as well as skills coaching. \nAn accessible sport \nClimbing is a welcoming sport that is accessible to all shapes\, sizes and ages. You can boulder from any age and over 70s climb for free at all TCA centres. The centre is fully accessible with free on-site parking for disabled customers. The sport\, which featured in the recent summer Olympics for the first time\, has proven benefits to both physical and mental health. Providing active movement\, from energetic overhangs at height to balanced slab traverses only centimetres off a mat. It helps participants to improve confidence and focus. \nThe Climbing Academy \nTCA opened its first centre in Bristol in 2008. The Arc is TCA’s 3rd centre in the south west of England and 5th centre in total\, with 2 in Glasgow. \nChippenham Borough Lands Charity \nChippenham Borough Lands Charity is a grant giving organisation that supports local residents in welfare\, education\, arts and community projects.
