DESCRIPTION:Join us on a tour to explore areas of the historical Neeld and Town Hall\, which are usually off-limits. Learn about our fascinating history and find out more about our namesake Joseph Neeld\, and the building’s architecture. \nDelve into the secret corners of the Neeld and Town Hall to discover behind-the-scenes areas such as the tech booth\, backstage and Mayor’s Parlour. Our free guided tour will tell you more about the fascinating history of our buildings\, their architect James Thomson\, and our namesake and benefactor\, Joseph Neeld. \nThe Neeld has played several different roles in the heart of the Chippenham community\, including a Cheese Market and a WWI Hospital. Following a refurbishment project in 2015\, the Neeld is a thriving Community and Arts Centre with an exciting programme of professional shows and local groups’ activities. The Town Hall was built in the Neoclassical style and opened in 1834. The building remains the civic heart of the town and the home of Chippenham Town Council. \nTours will take place at 10am and 12pm (duration approx. 45 minutes). Each tour will have a maximum of 20 people so pre-booking is encouraged to avoid disappointment. \nChildren’s colouring activity available. \nAnyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nCertain areas of this tour are only accessible by stairs. \nTickets: Free \nAge: Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. \nPlease contact the venue for any access requirements. \nTickets are also available through our Box Office on 01249 446699\, from the Neeld Box Office or at the Town Hall. \nTickets are non-refundable unless this event is cancelled or postponed

DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.

DESCRIPTION:September’s fundraising Album Listening Party for Dorothy House at The Waverley in Chippenham will be on Wednesday September 24th from 7.30pm\, with the music starting around 8pm. \nThis month we will have a special guest acoustic live performance by local musician Reuben Tyghe and will listen to a vinyl copy of his brand new album ‘Leylanding’ released at the end of August 2025\, This is Reuben’s second album from his solo project band\, Reuben’s Daughters\, which finds the UK singer/songwriter pushing the sound of his 2022 debut LP ‘Mami Wata’ into new and fascinating places. Reuben and his band are touring in support of the record\, including appearances at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival and Beautiful Days Festival\, so its a honour and a pleasure to host him at The Waverley for our event. \n“Reuben’s Daughters is a moonlight swim under a weeping willow slide guitar forest… Ghosts and clouds turn into melodies that crouch on the banks and whisper pictures into your brain.” says Particle Kid [Micah Nelson\, son of Willie Nelson]\nReuben suggested Radiohead’s ‘OK Computer’ as a classic vinyl album to pair his work with and so we will also listen to the remastered special edition ‘OK Computer OKNOTOK 1997-2017’ LP set \nAs usual the event is open to everyone and is free to attend\, but voluntary donations to aid the work of the local Hospice are very welcome

The majority is traffic free and has several stopping points to allow people cycling of different abilities to catch up. \nThe ride is part of the Big Bike Revival\, and is particularly suitable for adults who are beginners\, improving\, or returning to cycling. \nThe route has a nature theme featuring:- \n\nFREE Cycle Repair checks at the start 1 hour before setting off . Cycle checks 9-30 to 10-30; ride leaves at approximately 10-30am.\nFREE Cycle accessories\nThe Rooted Tree nursery and Community garden at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre\nAvon Needs Trees site at Pudding Brook\nA pass by Abbeyfield School\nThe Tiny Forest in Monkton Park\nThe tenth Hole Tea rooms – with FREE refreshments\n\nFor those that need to return to the start the route can be completed. \nThe ride is approximately 5 miles and is almost entirely on the 403 Cycle track away from cars. There is a small section on quieter roads at Hardens mead. \nThe ride is guided by Cycle Chippenham volunteers and has been risk assessed.\nChildren under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.\nAs part of the Big Bike Revival grant criteria we will collect as a minimum a name and email address from adults at the ride event.\nOrganised by Cycle Chippenham in partnership with Chippenham Town Council as part of the Community Environmental Forum. \nTo reserve a place on this event please book via our Eventbrite link.  Spaces are limited so booking is essential!
