DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.

DESCRIPTION:Our Beginner’s Couch to 5K Nordic Walk for Health Course is a structured\, supportive program designed to help individuals gradually build up their fitness and confidence to complete a 5K walk using Nordic walking techniques. \nPerfect for those new to exercise or returning after a break\, the course spans 10 weeks\, starting with short\, manageable sessions that focus on learning proper pole technique\, improving posture\, and developing a steady walking rhythm. SUMMARY:Pewsham Locks Open Day
DESCRIPTION:Popular open days on a restored stretch of canal between near Chippenham are due to return this weekend.\nHundreds of people attended last year’s events at Pewsham Locks\, a flight of locks which once lifted narrowboats on their journey north along the Wilts & Berks Canal. \nVisitors can enjoy a pop-up café\, boat trips\, and tours of the building projects and wildflower meadow.\nThe first event takes place on Saturday 10th May and will be repeated on the second Saturday of each month until October. The café and tours open from 10am\, with boat trips available from 12.30pm\, before the event closes at around 3pm. \nThe open days are organised by the Melksham\, Chippenham & Calne branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal Trust. \nSpokesperson Bright Wright said: \nWe’re looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors and sharing the progress we’ve made in bringing this historic waterway back to life. People often enjoy walking or cycling along the towpath but this is a golden opportunity to learn so much more about the charity\, our local work and our plans for the future. \nWe’ll be offering guided tours of the dry dock and carpenter’s workshop\, which are due to be completed later this year\, as well as tours of the wildflower meadow and wildlife habitats. The boat rides are especially popular\, taking passengers to Double Bridge near Reybridge and back again. We also offer exclusive trips for community groups in the mornings. \nThese rides depend on the weather and the water levels though\, so we always advise people to check our social media for any late changes. Boats depart from the wharf at Pewsham Locks\, where the pop-up café offers plenty of tea\, coffee and cake\, and lots of seating beneath the trees – it’s a great location for a relaxing day out. \nThe site is just a short walk along a footpath from the edge of Pewsham. DESCRIPTION:Our Beginners Nordic walking course is the perfect introduction to this low-impact\, full-body exercise that combines walking with the use of specially designed poles. \nDesigned for all fitness levels\, the course typically covers the fundamentals of proper technique\, including posture\, rolling through the feet\, and the coordinated arm swing and leg movement. Participants learn how to use the poles effectively to engage the upper body\, improve balance\, and increase cardiovascular benefits compared to regular walking. \nThe course will be held outdoors in a relaxed\, supportive environment\, making it a great way to get active\, enjoy nature\, and meet like-minded people. It may be that you prefer to be backstage or help with the design and production. DESCRIPTION:Originally founded in 2012\, World Singing Day aims to bring people together in their communities all around the globe through the simple act of singing. \nAnyone and everyone is welcome to join our Sparkly Lite lunchtime group for this FREE one-hour workshop\, where we’ll be learning the specially-commissioned Song of the Year for 2025 – ‘All of us’ – written by the World Singing Day’s founder\, Scott Johnson. \nNo previous singing experience is necessary and there’s no need to book – simply come along and join us on the day. \nLyrics can be downloaded in advance or simply collected at the venue upon arrival. \nPLEASE NOTE: The finale of this event will be filmed and may be shared on the Sparkly Singers’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Red\, white and blue clothing and accessories are very much encouraged!

DESCRIPTION:How are you? Out of 10?\nThis meet up is a talking and listen club for men aged 18 and over.\nThis group meets the 2nd Monday of each month – upstairs at The Waverley. \nWhat’s it about?\nA Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains.\nCaptains are trained to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. \nThese groups are held in person in a safe and quiet space so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel\, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why. \nDepending on the number of men attending\, sessions last a maximum of two hours.

DESCRIPTION:FOR AGES 18+ \nDrama Workshops with their basis in improvisation and devising\, but including script. \n‘The most fun I have all week’ \nMondays in 5 week blocks at the Cause Arts Centre\, Causeway Chippenham\nImprovers 7.30 – 9pm (Beginners 6 -7.30pm) \nFor those who’ve been coming to us for a while\, or who like to move a bit faster\, this session is for you. \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not always be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. \nWe’ll also be developing some scenes and creating longer pieces\, so be prepared. We’d like to find opportunities to perform outside for those of you who are keen. \nTerm 1: Monday 22nd September – October 20th 2025\nTerm 2: Monday November 3rd – December 1st 2025\nTerm 3: Monday 5th January – Feb 2nd 2026\nTerm 4: Monday 23rd February – March 23rd 2026\nTerm 5: Monday April 13th – May 18th 2026\nTerm 6: Monday June 1st – June 29th 2026 \n(Thursday evening Improv Slams also running at the Old Road Tavern 7.30 – 9pm £12 drop in on second Thursday of the month.
