DESCRIPTION:Comedy fans in the area are in for a real treat this summer as the Chippenham Comedy Festival returns from 5th-7th July. The event is hosted by The Chippenham Comedy Club\, which has been bringing laughter to the town for over two decades thanks to\, award-winning comedian\, Wil Hodgson. The festival promises a hilarious lineup of top comedic talent from across the UK. \n\n\nThe comedy festival kicks off on Friday 5th July at 7pm with Eddie French’s “Poser” – a standup show exploring punk rock\, gender\, nerds and more. Followed at 8:30pm by Stephanie Laing with “Rudder” – a unique blend of standup\, dance\, and cartoon bears tackling bodies\, sex\, liking yourself\, consent\, and healing. Closing out Friday night at 10pm is Stephen Carlin with “Frenemies” where the longtime lone wolf finally embraces society after being a “fully paid up member of the awkward squad”  \nSaturday’s riotous lineup begins at 1:15pm with Bristol favourite\, Burt Williamson’s “Riding Bareback Through Your Mind.” Then at 2:30pm it’s Phil Ellis\, as seen and heard on BBC Radio 4\, BBC2\, Comedy Central and Sky\, before Caitriona Dowden brings her debut solo hour “Holier Than Thou” complete with graphs\, Catholic guilt\, and floating nuns at 3:45pm. Nate Kitch ponders tomorrow’s uncertainties at 5pm followed by Katie Mitchell’s “Wretched” – silly goth standup at its best at 7:15pm. Science fans are in for a treat at 8:30pm with Robin Ince\, the co-host of the legendary “Infinite Monkey Cage” with Brian Cox. Capping off Saturday is the popular “The Real Cheesemakers” band with support from Tom Veck at 10pm. \nSunday starts off at 12:30pm with the dynamic duo of Robin & Wil bringing “Something for the Weekend” – a show filled with random chats and funny observations. DESCRIPTION:A family friendly\, summer evening 5k race and 2k fun run\, held each year in early July in Monkton Park. This year it’s Wednesday the 3rd July. \nThere are two routes to choose from\, namely a full 5k route and a shorter 2k route (fun run). \nThe 5k River Run and 2k Fun Run follow a largely traffic free multi-terrain route along the banks of the River Avon\, starting and finishing in Monkton Park\, near the Olympiad Leisure Centre. There is a mixture of compacted field/grass\, gravel and paved road/path. \nThe River Run is a great community event which attracts people of all abilities and ages. The 5k distance means that it is ideal for the beginners and the inclusion of the Fun Run makes it the perfect summer evening event for families. The 5k is open to anyone aged 13 and over and the Fun Run is for 4 – 14 year olds. \nPrizes in age categories for both races. All Fun Run finishers receive a medal. \nTypical start times are Fun Run at 6:30pm and River Run at 7.30pm. Registration is normally 60 minutes prior to the first race (5:30pm). \nRace start is at Olympiad Leisure Centre\, Chippenham\, Wiltshire\, SN15 3PA
