DESCRIPTION:Calling all performers aged 13 and up (including adults) \nA NEW performance company for young people and adults. \nWe spent time in June 2025 exploring ideas and working together to see what sort of work we all wanted to create and this will now be followed by a 9 week rehearsal period from Saturday 27th September\, followed by an intensive rehearsal period in January 2026 finishing a performance on Feb 7th 2026 (Venue – TBC – as we’ll come up with that together). \nWhether you’re a seasoned actor or just starting out\, why not showcase your talent and connect with like-minded locals? It may be that you prefer to be backstage or help with the design and production. DESCRIPTION:I’m happy to announce the next two static sessions of History Portal Club\, planned for September. \nHistory Portal Club is friendly regular meet-up for curious locals who love stories from the past\, hidden landmarks\, and great company. It’s a great way to explore the local area’s past together – no lectures\, no stuffy rooms\, just walking\, talking\, pub chats\, and stories you won’t find in the guidebooks. \nOn Tuesday 30 September we’ll explore the two periods of unrest Chippenham experienced – Why Did Chippenham Have Two Riots? – looking at causes\, effects\, and how we frame these both today and in the 19th century when they occurred. \nTogether we’ll explore and dissect the two incidents of unrest in the 19th century.\nWhat happened?\nWho was involved?\nWhere did they take place? \nThis club session will explore the action from all angles\, looking at cause and effect and tragic outcome\, and put the two riots into context\, from the perspective of the times they occurred and our modern viewpoints. \nThere’s more information on both the sessions here – www.lucywhitfieldhistorian.co.uk/history-club – and on how History Portal Club works. \nWe’re a friendly and very welcoming group. DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.

DESCRIPTION:Art & Design sessions for 13-17 year olds in 10 week blocks. \nFollowing on from our brilliant year of designing for the Mayor’s Ball\, and creating a beautiful colour wall for Chippenham Library\, we’re ready to go again and create more original art work to adorn our lovely town. \nTaught by experienced local artist and set designer\, Charlie\, supported by local seamstress\, TA and artist Lottie Bywaters. \nListening to music and trying out each other’s ideas while having a cup of tea and a biscuit is all part of the experience. \nTerm 1: September 17th – October 15th/ November 5th – Dec 3rd 2025 (Followed by Youth Club)\nTerm 2: January 7th – Feb 4th 2026/Feb 25th – March 25th 2026 (Followed by Youth Club)\nTerm 3: April 15th – May 13th / June 3rd – July 1st 2026 \nCome and join us to meet other lovely creatives in the artisan quarter of Chippenham. \nSubsidised by Wiltshire Council’s Chippenham Area board and Kington Langley Arts Society. DESCRIPTION:Our Beginner’s Couch to 5K Nordic Walk for Health Course is a structured\, supportive program designed to help individuals gradually build up their fitness and confidence to complete a 5K walk using Nordic walking techniques. \nPerfect for those new to exercise or returning after a break\, the course spans 10 weeks\, starting with short\, manageable sessions that focus on learning proper pole technique\, improving posture\, and developing a steady walking rhythm. Each week\, the intensity and walking duration gently increase\, helping participants boost their stamina and strength without feeling overwhelmed. \nWith guidance from a fully qualified British Nordic Walking instructor and the motivation of a group setting\, this course offers a fun\, social\, and achievable path to completing a 5K while enjoying the full-body benefits of Nordic walking. \nThis course will be held in John Coles Park where you will be able to go at your own pace and we hope to end our 10 weeks completing the 5k route that Chippenham Parkrun follow in Monkton Park. \nFor more information or to book a place please visit our website nordicnomads.net and fill in the ‘contact us’ form.

DESCRIPTION:Our Beginners Nordic walking course is the perfect introduction to this low-impact\, full-body exercise that combines walking with the use of specially designed poles. \nDesigned for all fitness levels\, the course typically covers the fundamentals of proper technique\, including posture\, rolling through the feet\, and the coordinated arm swing and leg movement. Participants learn how to use the poles effectively to engage the upper body\, improve balance\, and increase cardiovascular benefits compared to regular walking. \nThe course will be held outdoors in a relaxed\, supportive environment\, making it a great way to get active\, enjoy nature\, and meet like-minded people. DESCRIPTION:Calling all performers aged 13 and up (including adults) \nA NEW performance company for young people and adults. \nWe spent time in June 2025 exploring ideas and working together to see what sort of work we all wanted to create and this will now be followed by a 9 week rehearsal period from Saturday 27th September\, followed by an intensive rehearsal period in January 2026 finishing a performance on Feb 7th 2026 (Venue – TBC – as we’ll come up with that together). \nWhether you’re a seasoned actor or just starting out\, why not showcase your talent and connect with like-minded locals? It may be that you prefer to be backstage or help with the design and production. DESCRIPTION:FOR AGES 18+ \nDrama Workshops with their basis in improvisation and devising\, but including script. \n‘The most fun I have all week’ \nMondays in 5 week blocks at the Cause Arts Centre\, Causeway Chippenham\nImprovers 7.30 – 9pm (Beginners 6 -7.30pm) \nFor those who’ve been coming to us for a while\, or who like to move a bit faster\, this session is for you. \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not always be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. \nWe’ll also be developing some scenes and creating longer pieces\, so be prepared. DESCRIPTION:Trio Paradis (Jacquelyn Bevan – piano\, Ruth O’Shea – violin & Linda Stocks – cello) play a Café Concert at St Andrew’s Church on the first Tuesday of each month at 11am: informal music events with a pop-up café from 10.30 where you can meet friends and make new ones over tea/coffee and home-made cakes. \nThis month’s programme is inspired by spirits and creatures of legend\, including a mermaid\, a water sprite\, elves\, a Greek God and a ghost. Music by Handel\, Gershwin\, Henriette Renié\, Rebecca Clarke and William Bolcom. \nConcerts last c45m and entrance – or rather\, exit! – is by donation\, with a retiring collection.
