DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. Come and enjoy spending time in a calm\, accepting and welcoming environment. \nJoin the sessions in person or online if you’d prefer. \nThe project will run every Thursday from 10.15am-3pm from 20th March to 22nd May. DESCRIPTION:Love to sing? Want to make friends? Come along to Pewsham Community Centre Tuesdays between 1.30-3.30pm. Taken by the wonderful Matt Finch. It’s all about having fun and singing in the afternoon! \nMatt runs 4 popular Good Afternoon Community Choirs every week and loves the fun of singing together and making amazing music during the afternoons.  Matt lives in Bath where he is well-known as Musical Director of the Bath Light Operatic Group\, you may well have attended one of their wonderful shows at the Bath Theatre Royal in years past.  All Good Afternoon Choir members enjoy singing Matt’s very special arrangements\, especially at the Big Sings when all the Good Afternoon Choirs join together to sing in one venue. \nA warm welcome awaits any new members\, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome!  There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal.   Come alone or with a friend – either way Matt and the Choir will be pleased to meet you.  You will be joining over 1\,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond! \nMembership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal.  The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire\, music\, admin and musician fees.  You do not need to join at the start of a term\, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term. \nIf you have any questions about the Choir please contact Tracey or Karin via email gac@grenvillemusic.co.uk or tel 01761 472468. \n

DESCRIPTION:Since embarking on their musical journey back in 2012\, Cloudbusting have been touring theatres and music venues across the UK and Europe\, exploring the intricacies and nuance of Kate’s stunning albums. \nAlong the way\, many of those complex and at times powerful arrangements have demanded every ounce of musicality and virtuosity that the band could muster – but at more reflective moments\, the true essence of Kate’s imaginative concepts have come to life with simply the voice and piano. \nIt’s these jewels of the song-writing craft that the ‘Song Book’ ensemble now performs – with Matt Bowers at the piano and Dave Roberts on bass backing the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Mandy Watson. \nThe Song Book repertoire features stunning arrangements of some lesser-known tracks as well as many of the hits – including Wuthering Heights\, Babooshka\, Hounds of Love and Cloudbusting. SUMMARY:Collection Conversations: Katherine Gili
DESCRIPTION:In April’s edition of a talk series\, Collection Conversations\, we will be joined by Katherine Gili. \nA student of the Bath Academy of Art\, Corsham\, she later attended the St Martin’s School of Art\, where she was introduced to the use of steel by her tutor\, Anthony Caro.\nGili’s work combines the use of steel construction with her search for increasingly sensual and subjective means of expression. Over time\, this has led Gili to develop her sculpture away from the industrial aesthetic of steel\, towards one based on an increasing manipulation of this seemingly intractable material. Her work continues to explore notions of weight and balance in response to movement and the dynamic figure. \nAs well as featuring in national and international collections including the Tate\, Arts Council\, and The Henry Moore Institute\, Gili’s work is also in display in our current exhibition.
