DESCRIPTION:Originally founded in 2012\, World Singing Day aims to bring people together in their communities all around the globe through the simple act of singing. \nAnyone and everyone is welcome to join our Sparkly Lite lunchtime group for this FREE one-hour workshop\, where we’ll be learning the specially-commissioned Song of the Year for 2025 – ‘All of us’ – written by the World Singing Day’s founder\, Scott Johnson. \nNo previous singing experience is necessary and there’s no need to book – simply come along and join us on the day. \nLyrics can be downloaded in advance or simply collected at the venue upon arrival. \nPLEASE NOTE: The finale of this event will be filmed and may be shared on the Sparkly Singers’ Facebook page and YouTube channel. Out of 10?\nThis meet up is a talking and listen club for men aged 18 and over.\nThis group meets the 2nd Monday of each month – upstairs at The Waverley. \nWhat’s it about?\nA Talk & Listen group is a peer to peer talking group run by volunteers we call Captains.\nCaptains are trained to facilitate groups in communities across the UK. \nThese groups are held in person in a safe and quiet space so men can talk and listen using the Talk Club sharing model which starts with ‘How are you? Out of 10?’. This simple question helps men to put a number on how they feel\, (1 being rock bottom and 10 being on top of the world) then trying to explain why. \nDepending on the number of men attending\, sessions last a maximum of two hours.

DESCRIPTION:FOR AGES 18+ \nDrama Workshops with their basis in improvisation and devising\, but including script. \n‘The most fun I have all week’ \nMondays in 5 week blocks at the Cause Arts Centre\, Causeway Chippenham\nImprovers 7.30 – 9pm (Beginners 6 -7.30pm) \nFor those who’ve been coming to us for a while\, or who like to move a bit faster\, this session is for you. \nCome and join a lovely bunch of local budding thespians\, who like to mess about\, play games\, take part in drama exercises and generally have fun while learning how to think on the spot\, make up scenes and not always be restricted by the script. \nYou’ll explore scenes\, develop strong characters then improvise the content with some idea of the outcomes – Mike Leigh style. \nWe’ll also be developing some scenes and creating longer pieces\, so be prepared. DESCRIPTION:Chippenham Film Club was formed to bring films to the town that would not normally be seen on the big screen in Chippenham. Anyone can attend\, but membership gives 35% discount for the monthly shows \nOctober’s Film Club Screening is “Brazil” (age rating 15) is a 1985 dystopian science fiction black comedy film written and directed by Terry Gilliam – originally one of the Monty Python team who did the animations for them. The film stars Jonathan Pryce\, Robert De Niro\, Katherine Helmond\, Ian Holm\, Bob Hoskins\, Michael Palin\, Ian Richardson\, Peter Vaughan\, and Kim Greist. The film tells the story of Sam Lowry (Pryce)\, a low-ranking bureaucrat trying to find a woman (Greist) who appears in his dreams. “Brazil”’s satire of technocracy\, bureaucracy\, hyper-surveillance\, corporate statism and state capitalism draws heavily on themes contained in George Orwell’s 1949 novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four”\, it has been described as “Kafkaesque”\, as well as absurdist.The film won best production design and best special effects at the 1986 BAFTA Awards. The screening will be the original full ‘Directors Cut’ ending version

DESCRIPTION:‘My favourite time of the week’ \nA chance to indulge\, draw and to practice some essential drawing skills in a beautiful environment\, guided by someone with over 25 years teaching experience. You’ll use a diverse range of styles and techniques that stretch you and keep you motivated to improve. \nAll while enjoying fresh coffee and meeting some other lovely local artists. \nLife Drawing is challenging and rewarding\, but like drawing anything else\, it takes practice and patience. \nThe best way to encourage practice is to vary the media and techniques available; to make sure this is feasible\, we provide materials (donations welcome) This also allows more confidence as using expensive personal materials tends to inhibit experimentation. \nSometimes the session is devoted to a worksheet-style drawing\, using many poses on one sheet in different materials. These are a great opportunity to gain confidence in composition\, materials and mark-making. \n£105 for 6 x 2 hour session term or £20 cash drop-in option (just for our life drawing sessions) \nWe look forward to meeting you soon.

He\, and his identically named dad\, built a lot more of Chippenham than that – the Bear Hotel for example\, and loads more. And Lucy’s been digging further into the family – so there’s some surprises to come. \nThis walk and talk will take in factors which shaped the town in the late 18th and early 19th centuries\, through the eyes and work of this prominent family\, who also had a celebrated artist in their ranks. \nMeet Lucy Whitfield at Cousin Norman’s at 10am for a gentle walk through what Mr Provis got up to. \nHistory Portal Club is a friendly regular meet-up for curious locals who love stories from the past\, hidden landmarks\, and great company. DESCRIPTION:Bicycles\, Trees\, and Teas is a FREE family friendly cycle ride and repair event exploring nature in Chippenham. The majority is traffic free and has several stopping points to allow people cycling of different abilities to catch up. \nThe ride is part of the Big Bike Revival\, and is particularly suitable for adults who are beginners\, improving\, or returning to cycling. \nThe route has a nature theme featuring:- \n\nFREE Cycle Repair checks at the start 1 hour before setting off . Cycle checks 9-30 to 10-30; ride leaves at approximately 10-30am.\nFREE Cycle accessories\nThe Rooted Tree nursery and Community garden at the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre\nAvon Needs Trees site at Pudding Brook\nA pass by Abbeyfield School\nThe Tiny Forest in Monkton Park\nThe tenth Hole Tea rooms – with FREE refreshments\n\nFor those that need to return to the start the route can be completed. \nThe ride is approximately 5 miles and is almost entirely on the 403 Cycle track away from cars. There is a small section on quieter roads at Hardens mead. \nThe ride is guided by Cycle Chippenham volunteers and has been risk assessed.\nChildren under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.\nAs part of the Big Bike Revival grant criteria we will collect as a minimum a name and email address from adults at the ride event.\nOrganised by Cycle Chippenham in partnership with Chippenham Town Council as part of the Community Environmental Forum. \nTo reserve a place on this event please book via our Eventbrite link.  Spaces are limited so booking is essential!
