Under Rob’s expert tuition you will learn how a drummer keeps a band together as well as how to create amazing\, textural percussion music. \nRobert Brian is based in the Bath/Bristol area and is a busy session/touring drummer. He also performs drum clinics/masterclass’ around the country for DW drums and Vulcan cymbals. \nRob has recorded/toured with Loreena McKennitt\, Clara Ponty\, Michel Polnareff\, Goldfrapp\, Miles Kane\, Laura Pausini\, Siouxsie Sioux\, Simple Minds\, Hugh Cornwell\, Modern English\, Innes Sibun\, Andy Partridge\, Black Box\, Jason Rebello\, Colin Moulding\, Coati Mundi and Charlie Jones.\nIn 2013 Rob became a Drum Workshop endorser and played 2 sold out shows at the Royal Festival Hall with Siouxsie as part of Yoko Ono’s Meltdown Festival.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a more relaxed visit at the REME Museum during this special opening outside of our regular hours. \nWe have designed these ‘Lights Up\, Sounds Down’ days to reduce sensory input for individuals who would prefer a quieter experience. These sessions are primarily for\, though not limited to\, anyone who has sensory processing disorder; autism; social\, emotional or mental health needs; dementia\, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or any other sensory needs. \nDuring these days we will have: \nLights On – our overhead gallery lighting will be turned on\, without spotlights\, to create a brighter environment in which to explore.\nSounds Down – we will reduce sound effects throughout the museum as much as possible by turning off most ‘surround sound’ interactives and reducing volumes.\nSensory maps – we have marked out any areas around the museum where you may find louder interactives or visual effects that we cannot turn off. This means you can choose your own route and avoid any areas as you wish. \nIf you would like to bring any sensory items (including but not limited to ear defenders\, magnifying glass\, book\, squeezy toy) that will help you or your loved one to enjoy their experience better\, please feel free to do so\, just make sure you hold onto it and take it home with you! \nFurther Information \n\nPre-booking is essential for these visits\, please use our online booking system.\nUsual entry fees apply. Included in your annual pass.\nAny visitors who wish to join us for the full museum experience\, including normal sound effects and visuals\, should avoid visiting during these special openings. DESCRIPTION:Alongside our sessions in Chippenham (Monday lunchtimes) and Royal Wootton Bassett (Tuesday evenings)\, the Sparkly Singers meet every Thursday evening from 8:00pm at the Lansdowne Hall in Derry Hill. \nFounded with the simple aim of bringing the joy and benefits of group singing to everyone\, our emphasis is on singing in a way that is\, above all else\, fun.\nRather than splitting into parts and learning harmonies\, we prefer instead to sing in unison\, infusing songs with our own rather unique mix of humour\, movement and the occasional wacky prop. \nSo if you simply love to sing\, but have yet to find the choir that perfectly complements your sense of fun\, why not come along to one of our FREE taster sessions and see what we’re all about.

DESCRIPTION:‘A really friendly place to learn from experienced people’ \nUniquely designed and delivered 6 x 6 week courses for beginners. Taught by local artist and designer Charlie who has over 25 years experience teaching art. \nTuesdays at 12.30 – 2.30pm \nTerm 1 – Still life (drawing) – Sept 17th – October 22nd \nTerm 2 – Objects in interiors (drawing\, painting)- November 5th – December 10th \nTerm 3 – Portrait (painting)- January 7th – Feb 11th \nTerm 4 – Interiors (drawing)- Feb 26th – April 2nd \nTerm 5 – Landscape (painting) – April 23rd – June 4th \nTerm 6 – Still life revisited (collage\, mixed media) – June 11th – July 16th \nIn both beginners and improvers\, the sessions we will follow the classic method for learning to draw and paint. It is easy to learn to draw by copying the example of a tutor leading the group\, but this tends to produce a ‘house style’ where everyone ends up drawing in the same way. Your drawing style is as unique to you as your handwriting (if school hasn’t obliterated it) – here you will learn to enhance your own drawing style\, not replace it with ours. \nPlease note: all courses begin with drawing\, and include a talk about relevant art movements and practitioners. \nPrice includes all materials and coffee and biscuits (donations taken to help with refreshments) \nThank you – we look forward to meeting you soon
