DESCRIPTION: Great opportunity for neurodiverse young people \n A set of cassettes tapes from the 1980s which haven’t been accessible for many years have just been digitised as part of the Sounds of the South West project. \n Be the first to find out the content in these oral histories\, become skilled in the technical aspects of working with audio material\, get creative using the contents as a starting point\, with the chance to be mentored by experienced practitioners who will support you every step of the way. \n You’ll be able to create something special to share with others\, learn new skills\, have fun\, and maybe make some new friends. DESCRIPTION:Love to sing? Want to make friends? Come along to Pewsham Community Centre Tuesdays between 1.30-3.30pm. Taken by the wonderful Matt Finch. It’s all about having fun and singing in the afternoon! \nMatt runs 4 popular Good Afternoon Community Choirs every week and loves the fun of singing together and making amazing music during the afternoons.  Matt lives in Bath where he is well-known as Musical Director of the Bath Light Operatic Group\, you may well have attended one of their wonderful shows at the Bath Theatre Royal in years past.  All Good Afternoon Choir members enjoy singing Matt’s very special arrangements\, especially at the Big Sings when all the Good Afternoon Choirs join together to sing in one venue. \nA warm welcome awaits any new members\, there are NO auditions and everyone is welcome!  There is no charge for attending your first rehearsal.   Come alone or with a friend – either way Matt and the Choir will be pleased to meet you.  You will be joining over 1\,000 people singing at Good Afternoon Choirs around the South West and beyond! \nMembership forms are available to collect at every rehearsal.  The choir rehearsals are in 4 terms of 10 weeks and members pay £58 per term – this covers room and piano hire\, music\, admin and musician fees.  You do not need to join at the start of a term\, you can simply come along to any rehearsal and pick up a membership form should you wish to join the choir – your fee will then be worked out for the remainder of that term. \nIf you have any questions about the Choir please contact Tracey or Karin via email gac@grenvillemusic.co.uk or tel 01761 472468. \n

SUMMARY:The Innocent
DESCRIPTION:The Innocent is a story told in song commemorating the short life and death of Thomas Helliker\, an apprentice shearman in the Wiltshire woollen industry. He was hanged on his 19th birthday in 1803 after being falsely accused of burning down Littleton Mill\, near Trowbridge\, following the introduction of shearing machines that would have put the shearmen out of work. Thomas was prepared to die rather than testify against those who had carried out the deed. \nThe piece was was written and performed by Mick Ryan (‘Tolpuddle Man’\, ‘Here at the Fair’\, ‘The Voyage’\, ‘Tanks for the Memory’ and ‘A Day’s Work’) and Steve Faux (Radio 4’s Muisic History of the world in a Hundred Objects\, David Attenborough’s ‘Birds’ ). It has a stellar chorus of singers\, Rosie Upton\, Bryony McGinty\, Dave Webber & Anni Fentiman and Bob & Gill Berry. \nMusical accompaniment is expertly provided by Steven Faux and Dave Bordewey. \n\n\n\n\nThis performance is promoted by The White Horse (Wiltshire) Trades Council and supported by Watermarx\, The Cause Chippenham\, Wiltshire Folk Arts and Trowbridge Museum.

DESCRIPTION:In our next Collection Conversation\, we will be joined by Felicity Aylieff. \nEducated at the Bath Academy of Art\, Corsham\, Felicity Aylieff went on to teach ceramics at Bath Spa University. She is currently Professor of Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art. An artist residency in Jingdezhen\, China\, led to a lasting collaborative relationship with porcelain factories in city\, where she also now has a studio.
